Renowned actor Nicolas Cage, in an exciting collaboration announcement at Summer Game Fest 2023, revealed his debut in Dead by Daylight, the horror survivor multiplayer game.
The Oscar-winning actor expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that he is always looking for new adventures and joining a video game felt like the right next step in his career. Cage believes that appearing in Dead by Daylight will introduce him to a “whole new audience” of video game fans.
During the event, Cage joined host Geoff Keighley on stage to discuss how the collaboration came to be. The actor shared that it took him only a “split-second” to say yes to appearing in Dead by Daylight, noting that someone in his family is a big fan of the game as well. Cage’s involvement in the game extends beyond his likeness, as he will be lending his voice to his character, including screams, grunts, and “minimal exasperated expressions.”

In Dead by Daylight, Cage will be playing a heightened and exaggerated version of himself. His character takes a trip into the woods, believing he is making a movie, but soon finds himself waking up in a foggy and eerie environment, surrounded by crows and serial killers. Cage describes the experience as “rather amusing,” hinting at the exciting and unpredictable encounters players can expect.
The arrival of Nicolas Cage in Dead by Daylight marks a departure from the game’s typical licensed crossovers with other well-known horror franchises. While Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Stranger Things, SAW, and others have previously made appearances, this collaboration introduces a unique and intriguing twist. Cage’s character represents an hyperbolized version of himself, drawing inspiration from his recent film, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
The gameplay trailer showcased during the event provided a glimpse into the action-packed encounters players will experience with Nicolas Cage’s survivor character. Dead by Daylight players on PC and consoles can expect to join in on the excitement on July 25. However, PC players will have the opportunity to jump in even earlier, as the Player Test Build of the game will be available starting July 5.
