Microsoft is giving money back to people who bought the Redfall Bite Back Edition. This special version had the Redfall Hero Pass, which was going to bring new characters to the game. Unfortunately, the Arkane Austin company closed in May 2024, and so the Hero Pass DLC was discontinued. Following the news that the DLC would no longer be available, there wasn’t much word on refunds or what would happen. However, it looks like we’ve finally got the answer.
As Eurogamer discovered, many players who bought the digital Bite Back Edition on Xbox or Steam are reportedly getting their money back for the extra content, even if they didn’t ask for it. While some people might think getting automatic refunds is a good thing, it’s just a reminder that this game never reached its true potential.

The situation is not the same for people who bought a physical copy of the Bite Back Edition. The extra stuff for this version usually gets through a special code in the package. It won’t happen automatically if you bought this and want a refund. If you are in this group, you will have to contact Bethesda customer support to ask how to get a refund or some credit for the store.
The shutting down of Arkane Austin also meant that the making of Redfall came to an end. The game got its last update (version 1.451.3.0) in May 2024. This update included adding an offline mode, which a lot of players had asked for.
