Starfield, Bethesda’s highly anticipated space RPG, recently got a 45-minute-long event dedicated to its gameplay deep dive, following Xbox Games Showcase.
All the platforms Starfield will be launching on
Starfield is set to launch on September 6th, 2023, on the following platforms:
Xbox Series X|S
Starfield will be releasing on Microsoft’s latest generation of consoles, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Players who own either of these consoles will be able to experience the game. However, the game will be locked at 30 FPS on both the Xbox consoles for a more streamlined experience.
PC
In addition to Xbox consoles, Starfield will also be available on PC. The system requirements for PC was revealed by Bethesda a while back.
Is Starfield coming to PS5?
No, Starfield will not be released on either PS5 or its predecessor, the PS4. Following Microsoft’s acquisition in 2020 of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Game Studios, Starfield has become an Xbox exclusive. As a result, the game will only be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms.

This exclusivity deal signifies a significant shift in the industry, with Microsoft positioning itself to strengthen its first-party lineup for Xbox consoles. While PlayStation fans may be disappointed by the news, it aligns with Microsoft’s strategy of offering exclusive content to bolster the appeal of the Xbox ecosystem.
The acquisition of ZeniMax Media by Microsoft also raises questions about the availability of future titles from Bethesda Game Studios, such as The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5, on PlayStation consoles. As of now, it seems likely that these games will follow a similar exclusivity path, being restricted to Xbox and PC platforms.
Is Starfield Coming on Day One to Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, Starfield will be available on Xbox Game Pass on the day of its release. This means that subscribers to the service will have instant access to the game without any additional purchase. Xbox Game Pass has become a key offering for Microsoft, providing a vast library of games, including all first-party titles, at a monthly subscription cost.
The inclusion of Starfield on day one of its release into Xbox Game Pass further emphasizes Microsoft’s commitment to the service and its goal of providing added value to subscribers. This strategy has proven successful, attracting a large user base and positioning Xbox Game Pass as a compelling option for gamers.
In addition to Starfield, Microsoft has been actively expanding its roster of day one Game Pass releases. Microsoft released its roster of Xbox exclusives in the recent Xbox Games Showcase, revealing titles like Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Forza Motorsport, and Fable, which are to be available to Game Pass subscribers on their respective release dates.
