The Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release date will be announced at The Game Awards (TGA) ceremony on December 7, 2023. According to a recent tweet by Larian Studios, the developer of BG3, Xbox port for the game is ‘on track for a December release’.
The Xbox release of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been long speculated. Vast majority of Xbox users have been patiently waiting for the port of what seems like a strong contender for this year’s Game of the Year (GOTY) award. BG3 has already racked up eight TGA nominations, including GOTY, Best Game Direction, Best RPG, Best Multiplayer Game, and Best Narrative.
Based on this new tweet, gamers can expect the Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox release anytime between December 7 to Dec 31, 2023. TGA is definitely shaping up to be one of the unmissable events for the gaming industry this year, especially considering the strong speculations that Rockstar Games might also reveal the trailer for GTA 6 on the eve of TGA ceremony.
The latest tweet by Larian also dismisses rumors that were circulating on the internet earlier this month, claiming that the Xbox release of Baldur’s Gate 3 might take place on December 6. It’s highly possible that BG3 for Xbox might be available to pre-order after the ceremony, with the actual launch taking place during the holiday season that starts mid-December.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox Port will Include Significant Updates & Bug Fixes
The Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is anticipated to offer a holistic version of the game, including several bug fixes and patch updates introduced to PlayStation and PC versions well after release. Larian seems to be taking the task of launching a near-perfect Xbox version of BG3 pretty seriously, with many insiders claiming this launch will feature several Quality-of-Life upgrades and performance enhancements.
One of the major reasons for the delay of Baldur’s Gate 3’s Xbox release can be attributed to the performance difference between the Xbox Series S and Series X. While the X console is at par with PS5 and recommended PC requirements for the game, Series S features way less firepower.
As opposed to the PS5 port of the game, which released one month after game’s official release on PC, the BG3 Xbox version launch has taken significant time. (Owing to the need for the game to perform ideally on both consoles) Larian Studios has been working hard to reduce the RAM and VRAM loading times for BG3 Xbox Series S port.
The developer has been posting regular updates, and with the official announcement, it looks like Xbox players will finally be able to enjoy this popular D&D inspired RPG before Christmas.
