Updated on September 30, 2023: Sony has issued a statement in response to the delisting of Star Wars KOTOR Remake trailers. According to them, the removal stems from the expiration of music licensing.
“As part of normal business, we delist assets with licensed music when the licenses expire,” a Sony spokesperson told IGN.

Insider Gaming journalist Mike Straw approached Embracer and Saber Interactive about the situation. However, Straw reports that both parties declined to comment on it.

The 2021 PlayStation Showcase featured a noteworthy sneak peek of a Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake for PlayStation 5, captivating the audience. However, prior reports had already hinted at ongoing issues with the project. Curiously, Sony has recently removed tweets related to the game and has made the trailer unavailable on its official YouTube channel. This has not gone unnoticed by eager Star Wars fans.
When initially revealed in 2021, the game was intended to have a limited exclusivity period on the PlayStation 5. Additionally, there were plans to release versions of the game for PC and Xbox Series X and S.
At first, Aspyr Media was in charge of developing the game, but in August 2022, Embracer Group transferred the project to Saber Interactive. This switch happened due to apparent challenges within Aspyr Media during the game’s development. Embracer Group referred to this change as a ‘restructuring program’ during that period.
Star Wars KOTOR Remake Trailer Video Gone Private
Recently, keen fans noticed that the highly anticipated Knight of the Old Republic Remake’s official 2021 trailer on YouTube is no longer accessible to the public. Despite no official statement from the developer, this has sparked speculation about a potential cancellation.
However, it’s important to note that simply removing the trailer doesn’t confirm the project being canceled. Some suggest a re-reveal could be in the works, especially considering the original trailer only credited Aspyr as the developer. With the development now under Saber Interactive, fans believe substantial changes may have occurred, warranting a fresh trailer.
Adding to the uncertainty, Embracer Group has maintained silence regarding the game in recent months. In a May investor call, Embracer Group CEO Lars Wingefors chose not to provide any updates or comments on the progress of Star Wars KOTOR Remake.
Notably, industry insider Jeff Grubb had earlier suggested that the game might not see a release. Everything considered, the anticipation for an official update from the devs seems to be reaching a boiling point among fans.
