Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick said they try to “create perfection” across all their games, and this dedication holds true for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, whose initial trailer is set to debut in early December.
Zelnik told to Gamingindustry.biz, “We don’t tend to set particular expectations for any future releases, Our job is to be the most creative, the most innovative, and the most efficient entertainment company in the world.”
He further added, “All of our creative teams at all of our labels are trying to create perfection. And the result of that has been that we have 11 franchises that have each sold over five million units in individual releases, and that we have the largest and most diverse collection of owned intellectual property across mobile and console in the interactive entertainment business.”
Zelnick spilled the beans, revealing Take-Two is “terrified at all times,” even with the massive success of GTA. Then, a hack came along, blowing the lid off potential GTA 6 details—cue the return to Vice City and the tantalizing prospect of playing as more than one main character. It’s like a virtual rollercoaster of excitement!”
He acknowledged the increasing competitiveness and challenges in the market but maintained an optimistic outlook for 2024.
Zelnick further added, “The only thing we can do is be lean, be innovative and be creative, Our priorities remain to create a disproportionate number of hits, and to bring the highest quality entertainment experiences to consumers around the world of whatever type they want, however they want them delivered.”
“That’s always our challenge and, you know, we reiterated our outlook for 2024. So that’s pretty much how we see things for fiscal 24.”
Can GTA 6 Surpass GTA 5’s Behemoth Sales Numbers?
The anticipation for the next Grand Theft Auto is totally warranted. It’s been over a decade since the last installment, and Grand Theft Auto 5 has been a mammoth success, pulling in over $800 million and selling more than 190 million copies—only trailing behind Minecraft. GTA Online has played a significant role in this ongoing triumph, keeping GTA 5 among the top-selling games globally each month, even after 10 years on the market.
The massive scale of success of GTA 5, a rarity even among the best AAA games, sets the stage for high expectations with the upcoming sequel. It’s safe to assume that Take-Two is aiming to not just maintain but surpass the success of its predecessor.
