Soon after completing the tutorial, you will get a visit from Jack. He is a man building a wooden boat near the water, but the progress of boat building is fairly slow. He will ask you for help to assist him in finishing the project. You can check the shape of the current boat at Twin’s land, near the water, and you can easily tell this project needs a lot of help. Overall, the Jack in a Boat quest is fun, and it quickly devolves into multiple questlines, meeting interesting NPCs, and material gathering for completion.
In this guide, I will help you guide you through all the steps of the Jack in a Boat quest in Graveyard Keeper 2, including all the mini quests and material farming you must carry out on your way to complete the quest.
Jack in a Boat Quest
“Jack needs wood to build a boat. He’s staying in Twin’s Land. “
This quest takes place right after the encounter with Herm; just take a good night’s sleep, and Jack will pay a visit about his boat request. We have our main objective, which is to help Jack build a boat.
- First Objective: Craft Wooden Planks
- Second Objective: Hire the Twins and Craft Bronze Details
- Third Objective: Sleep
First Objective: Craft Wooden Planks
“Jack needs tools to finish the boat. He’s building it in Twin’s Land.”
Our first task is to craft 5 sets of wooden planks. Interact with the Woodworking Workbench I or II to make some Wooden Planks. The order is as follows: chop the tree to get some logs, then turn them into wooden boards; now we can use the wooden boards to make Wooden Planks via the Woodworking Workbench. After crafting the wooden planks, head to the south side of the village to the bridge section, and you will find Jack building a boat near the water at Twins’ Land. Interact with him to hand over the Wooden Planks.
After delivering the Planks, he will ask for tools and requires the aid of the twins standing near the boat to row the boat.
Second Objective: Hire the Twins and Craft Bronze Details
“Persuade the brothers to take Jack to the port. They’re near him in Twins’ Land.”
Our second objective for the Jack in a Boat quest in Graveyard Keeper 2 boils down to two different tasks: the first one is about making Bronze Details, and the second one requires making the Twins row the boat.
Hiring the Twins
- Two Peas in a Pod: The twins (Heffry and Jeffry) will only offer aid if you have village reputation at 10.
- Crafting Clay Plates: First, help out the twins outside the boat area by handing them 3 pieces of Clay Plates. For this, you will need to research Pottery I (10 red and 5 green research points) on the Tech Tree and dig out the Clay from the ground. Now build a Potter’s Wheel (2x Wooden Planks and 1x Piece of stone) and craft x3 Clay Plates out of Clay. Offer the clay plates to gain +5 Village Reputation. Now we need another +5 to get the twins by our side.
- Help out Herm: Start the quest Planted and Delivered in the northern section of the village, east of the Tavern, to find Herm. Buy 20 Wheat Seeds from him and then head back to your place to plant the seed to see the wheat grow. Once the wheat has grown, head back to Herm, offer the samples to complete the task, and get the +5 village reputation we need for the twins’ favor.
Now that you have +10 Reputation, you can ask the Twins to Aid Jack in rowing the boat.
Crafting Bronze Details
Bronze Details in Graveyard Keeper 2 can be crafted by getting Bronze Ingot via any Anvil type. The must-have requirement is the Hardening Bucket Extension; you can’t craft the Bronze Detail without the extension. Get Bronze Works (Prerequisites: Bronze Melting) for 30 Red Research Points under the Metallurgy Tech Tree to unlock the build option Hardening Bucket and the Bronze Detail Recipe.
To help out Jack, we just need to craft x5 Bronze Details; a single Bronze Ingot will create x6 Bronze Details. Once crafted, head back to Jack to get the option “Here’s your tools” to make Jack set sail.
Tip: With Engineer, you can get 9 Bronze Details out of a single Bronze Ingot.
Third Objective: Sleep
“I need to wait for news from Jack. Some rest would help too.”
It’s not going to be an instantaneous adventure; you will need to wait to get the news from Jack. Get some sleep, and the next day, the Twins will show up at your place, knocking at your door. Now choose the option “Read the letter” to complete the quest. Completing the Jack in a Boat quest will unlock the Church; you give sermons to the masses to gain Faith.
