There is never a dull moment in Graveyard Keeper 2, and you need to help the townsfolk if you wish to gain more town reputation. Each quest will introduce you to the many NPCs in the game, and each of them have certain requirements to improve their domains around town. Eventually, after giving Herbert a romance novel, he has one strange request; you need to get Agatha the Nun to read the novel for him.
And like any good quest chain in a game, asking Agatha to help you out has you accepting her request in return. As part of her quest, you need to further improve your church until she is satisfied enough. That involves getting a choir and managing it, and this guide will help you complete the quest by detailing the method for building a choir and how to make it function during a sermon.
The Nun Also Reads Quest Guide
The Nun Also Reads quest in Graveyard Keeper 2 requires you to reach 20 reputation with Agatha the Nun first, build a choir as part of the quest, then ask her to visit Herbert and read to him. Hubert doesn’t appear in the game right from the start, as you need to progress through the main questline until you complete the “Herbert and?” quest. This particular quest will reveal a Love Novel from the Looters during the quest prior to this, and you are tasked with handing it over to Herbert at the Barracks.
While Herbert can read the novel just fine, he is quite smitten by Agatha’s voice and would like her to read for him instead. Hence why you need to visit Agatha at the Crossroads. Like most NPCs in the game, she won’t do the task for free. She needs you to help her with some favors involving the church. Her objective is to get a choir going in the church, and you will require different materials to build a choir and someone to help perform.
How to Build a Choir
The choir blueprint unlocks in the Tech Tree, under Theology. Scroll through the Theology tree until you find Church Music I. You need to progress through Agatha’s questline until you can unlock further upgrades to the church before you can build a choir. After unlocking the blueprint, you need the following resources to build it:
- Oiled Planks x4 – use Wooden Planks x4 and Melted Fat x1 at the Woodworking Workbench I.
- Bronze Detail x2 – add Bronze Ingot x1 to the Wooden Anvil.
- Music Note x4 – get Clean Paper x2 and Ink x1 at the Writing Desk.
Then, visit the church and interact with the build blueprint on the wall, scroll down and select the Choir. This will automatically add the choir space to your church. To find your new choir, head up to the altar and check the right side. There is now a vacant space with a wooden platform used for singing.
How to Use the Choir
The choir won’t fill up on its own, and none of the townsfolk who visit your church will partake in this activity. Rather, if you step up to the choir platform, it will give you a notification to add a zombie instead. Head over to your base and either create a zombie from scratch or pick up any zombie that you have already created. You don’t require zombies with special perks for this, so any zombie will do.
Carry the zombie to the church and plop it down in the choir area. Start a fresh sermon during Wrath Day and watch the cutscene. In my experience, I could still complete the quest even if my sermon failed, so it won’t really matter if you got a successful sermon or not. Agatha will appear after the sermon, and you can finally ask her to help you out.
She will agree, and this will kickstart the next quest called Reader for a Warrior. You will also gain +10 reputation with Agatha, and 2x Town Gratitude scrolls for your trouble.
Bug: There is a chance that Agatha will not appear after the sermon is over, so try placing 1, 3, or 5 zombies in the choir pit each time until she talks to you.
