Unlocking a weapon in a Metroidvania game is a challenge in itself; there are many twists and turns that can easily leave a veteran player confused. Castlevania has never been shy about hiding stuff from the player; in the original, whipping the hidden wall is the only way to get a decent meal in the game. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse brings the original gameplay layout of Metroidvania, which includes secret areas and hidden unlocks.
One of the interesting weapon sets, the Cestus Weapon, is hidden behind a wall, and the game doesn’t hand out any clues regarding its location. In this guide, I will help you navigate through all the twists and turns to help you finally grab the Cestus Weapon from the dark corners of the game; here I will also be detailing the Cestus Weapon stats and why the weapon is a better choice for combat encounters.
How to Unlock the Cestus in Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

This weapon is tied to the first boss; you must get the Arcane Whip ability from the first boss in the game to get this special weapon. Start from the Mirror of Life, as seen on the image above and make your way to the next area on the right and head to the top to find it. Unlike Sonia Belmont’s alternative secret skin, this one requires a bit of a walk to get it.
Move Left from the Mirror of Life

Arcane Whip to the Top
Turn right from the Mirror of Life, the spot on the map; in the next room, use the Arcane Whip on the platforms twice, and then go through the door on the right.

The next room will be filled with enemies; just move to the right and take care of them on the way. Soon you will see an Arcane Whip spot at the top in between a narrow passageway; use the whip to move to the top, as seen in the image above. Now just keep moving to the left by using the whip to swing around the area above the spikes. Right at the end, you will see a doorway leading to the other side.
Take the Stairs to the Left

In the new area, head down the stairs, and soon the red bats start attacking you. Kill them first, or they will get annoying. Drop down, and take the door immediately to the left, as shown in the image. The room you are in now doesn’t have any platforming like the last few rooms we faced before, so we are pretty much safe. Just keep moving left to pass through the door on the left.
Save and then Move Up to Find the Weapon

Finally, we are in a room that can lead us towards the weapon. Here you can move to the left to find a Save Point, as indicated by the orange arrow. The weapon we seek is hidden at the top; use the Arcane Whip to move up the area. Use the Whip to lift up and then swing it twice to land on the left side of the platform. Don’t leave the area by going through any door; the weapon we seek is in the room.
Break the Hidden Wall

Now use the whip on the hidden block above the wooden bridge, just right above the stairs in the background, to unlock the route to the treasure chest.
Cestus Weapon Details

| Attack | 25 |
| Rarity | Ordinary |
| Specality | Uppercut |
The weapon’s damage comes down to the combos. The more you hit, the more damage you deal against the enemies. The weapon forces an aggressive combat tactic, where you must be relentless in your approach to combat. It’s a fist-based weapon, so you must go up close and personal to deliver the uppercut and land heavy blows to pulverize your enemies.
