Enshrouded 1.0 has finally opened its full map of Embervale, and the new, large area of Cinder’s Cradle is now available to explore. It is located in the northern region, past the gates beyond Veliwater Basin. The lower half is a lava-scarred wasteland of ruins, while the upper portion consists of floating islands built by the ancients, connected by Shroud tendrils and guarded by the new faction.
That said, reaching Cinder’s Cradle is part of the concluding story progression and will require you to get your hands on a specific Flame upgrade. In this guide, I will explain how to get to Cinder’s Cradle in Enshrouded 1.0.
How to Reach Cinder’s Cradle in Enshrouded 1.0
In order to reach the Cinder’s Cradle section in Enshrouded 1.0, you first have to enter it through the Ancient Gate, which is situated between the Cromville Hot Spring and Lake Luma, to the north of Veilwater Basin. The gate will only open after you reach Flame Level 10.
Here’s what the entire route looks like:

Complete the Crown of Sorrow quest to obtain the Broken Guard of the North Crown. The crown is in the Cromville Throne Room. Head north from the Cromville Hot Spring, climb the ramparts to the castle, and then interact with the crown on the throne. You can also use bombs to open a shorter path to the room.

Upgrade your Flame to Level 10. To do this, you will need the following:
- 16 Survivors
- Spark ×60
- Broken Guard of the North Crown
- Gleam Root Dust ×15
- Piscine Ivory Dust ×10
- Drak Blood ×30
- Shroud Sludge ×10
- Daylily ×30
Flame Level 10 will also raise the maximum number of Flame Altars in a world to 15.

Travel to the Ancient Gate. The fastest option is to fast travel to a Flame Altar if you have already placed one near the gate.

If you don’t have one nearby, you can use the Ancient Spire in Veilwater Basin and then head north. I must warn you, however, that it is a long way on foot.

Pass through the Ancient Gate once your Flame is Level 10. You are now in Cinder’s Cradle.
What to Expect Inside Cinder’s Cradle in Enshrouded 1.0

I found Cinder’s Cradle to be one of the most dangerous regions in the game. The lower areas can be found covered in lava and ruins, while the floating islands above hold denser Ancient architecture and stronger guardians. I highly recommend bringing upgraded gear and a good amount of food before you begin to explore Cinder’s Cradle.
The region itself contains 12 Shroud Roots and two Ancient Spires that serve as fast-travel points once you activate them.
Important Tips You Shouldn’t Miss
- Place a Flame Altar right outside the Ancient Gate or in a safe spot inside Cinder’s Cradle as soon as you can.
- Remember that the old Early Access saves still work after the 1.0 update. But your skill tree will reset the first time you load, so reassign your points before you head to Cinder’s Cradle.
- The main story progression will naturally lead you towards this area once you push past Veilwater Basin.
Once inside, you are free to explore the lava wastes and the floating islands in Cinder’s Cradle in Enshrouded 1.0.
