It is not surprising that One Piece has a long list of villains due to the series running for more than 25 years. Among the list is Gladius, who makes an appearance in the Dressrosa Arc.
What Was Gladius’ Role In One Piece?
Gladius is a fictional character from the popular manga-turned-into-anime One Piece, created by Eiichiro Oda. He is a very minor character in one of the major arcs of the series.
Gladius serves as an antagonist from the Dressrosa arc of One Piece. He is an officer serving under the infamous former Warlord, Donquixote Doflagmingo.
Doflagmingo’s pirate crew is divided into three major keys. Among these three divisions, Gladius serves as one of the commanders of the Pica Army division. Considering that he was from the villain’s side, Gladius fulfilled his role of fighting the main cast of One Piece, the straw hats and their allies.
As fun as Gladius and his devil fruit abilities were, the character did not shine too much during the arc but helped our main cast shine instead. Thanks to Gladius going after the straw hats crew and allies, Gladius ultimately came face to face with another new character, Bartholomew.
Bartholomew and Gladius did not fight for too long considering how fights in One Piece usually go. Gladius ultimately met his end due to the former’s amazing devil fruit abilities. This fight also served as sort of a rebellion against Doflamingo and his reign over the Dressrosa kingdom.
What followed after this was a series of fortunate events that took down Doflamingo’s reign on Dressrosa completely.
