The only time Rockstar Games had officially mentioned Grand Theft Auto 6 was in September 2022, when development footage of the game leaked online. However, even then, they only talked about the incident and not the game itself.
What did the GTA 6 leaks confirm?
The leaked gameplay footage has confirmed that GTA 6 will feature a male and a female protagonist. It is also practically guaranteed that the game takes place in Vice City, but in a much bigger area with more islands than players have experienced before. The visuals in the leaked footage look far superior, which suggests that the game will be a current-gen exclusive and might not come to PS4 and Xbox One.
The leaked gameplay footage also hints that the game will have improved animation work, shooting mechanics, and highly detailed character and car customization.

Multiple rumors about GTA 6 are currently making the rounds. Some of them suggest that the game will run on a new engine, while others state that it will seamlessly integrate with GTA Online. However, the most interesting and latest rumor suggests that the game is coming in 2024.

A New York-based journalist recently met with Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive. The journalist posted a tweet stating, “When I Tell You That GRAND THEFT AUTO 6 Will Be A Forever Moment To Remember Oh Man It’s Over.” His excitement suggests that the game is in a functional state and will blow people away when Rockstar Games officially talks about it.
Will GTA 6 release happen in 2024?
The current rumors do suggest that players might be able to see GTA 6 by 2024. GTA 5’s official trailer came out in November 2011, and the game was released almost two years later, in September 2013. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2’s trailer came out in October 2016, and the game was launched in October 2018.
Therefore, it is perfect to assume that players can expect to play the game within two years of the official trailer release. As a result, we are looking at a 2025 or 2026 release date, at the very least. However, until the company releases any official information, it is important to take these rumors with a grain of salt.
