After the end of Sequence 8: Do Not Go Gently, you receive Blackbeard’s map to his treasure. If you’re a curious soul like me, you’d want to find it, which leads us to Anotto Bay. But to my surprise, the way into the island isn’t so straightforward, and I found myself in shambles as well.
Though that’s how it’s supposed to feel because you’re trying to reach a grand treasure left by Blackbeard. So in this guide, I’m going to tell you how to enter the island itself and reach the treasure. A word of caution: there are some spoilers at the end, so keep that in mind.
Entering Anotto Bay in Black Flag Resynced

Usually, entering islands is as simple as docking, but Anotto Bay tests you. Instead of keeping the entrance straightforward, the real way is underwater. Once you reach the location, look for the ship wreck floating above water.
Swim towards the diving bell, and once you’re right in front of it, dive straight down. Once you reach the bottom, you’ll see a cave entrance. The path is easy; simply follow down the route, but dangers lurk down there, like a shark (this one caught me by surprise). So keep your guard up. Once you’ve reached the end, you’ll come across a Smuggler’s Den; reaching it means you’ve successfully entered Anotto Bay.
Black Flag Resynced – Blackbeard’s Treasure Location

To find the treasure, you must have Blackbeard’s Treasure Map in your possession. Just entering Anotto Bay won’t be enough. Now, as I’ve mentioned before, you have to enter the Smuggler’s Den and fight through it.
After entering the end of the cave, you’ll find a few NPCs discussing Blackbeard’s Treasure being there (they are right). Fight the three NPCs to clear the area. Keep moving through the mining tunnel until you reach a waterfall. You’ll find a few powder kegs there; use them to gain access to the main treasure.
Spoilers: there’s no gold or worldly possession you get from here. Rather, it’s a prank played by Blackbeard. The only thing it contains is a letter where he talks to Edward Kenway, knowing he’d find it. The entire letter is pretty wholesome (like the Gold Locket quest), and to me it’s worth more than mere gold.
