Aniimo’s Ancient Sacred Fragrance is one of the longest main-story quests I’ve found in the game. It doesn’t play out in one continuous stretch. It has three separate legs stitched together by rank promotions, sending you across three regions to recreate an old perfume said to please the Aeon.
Do remember that each leg is locked behind a combination of Elite Training tasks, a specific player level, and a rank promotion in Aniimo. The quest marker will not advance until every single condition for that stage is met. Hence, I recommend performing your activities accordingly.
In this guide, I will break down the quest so you can go through it with ease.
How to Unlock Ancient Sacred Fragrance in Aniimo
Before you can begin the quest itself, you will need to do the following to unlock it:
- Complete the required quest in Elite Training Chapter 2.
- Reach Level 35.
- Complete the Growth Story quest Promotion: Legacy’s Protection. This will promote your character to Student III.
Once you have reached the Student III rank in Aniimo, you can talk to Velouria to officially start the quest.
Leg 1: The Fragrance of Life in Mistwoods
Head over to the Mistwood entrance and follow the marker to find Sunia and Nicole.
Search the area for the “Fragrance of Life,” which is Super Truffle.
Listen to the dialogue about the Super Truffle being guarded by a Tucking.
Defeat the Tucking and get the Super Truffle. Once you pick it up, get the item to Sunia.
Leg 2: The Incense of Tolerance at Echoback Landing
Before you do this, you must know that this leg only opens up once you have reached Level 40 and completed the Growth Story quest, Promotion: Stardust’s Blessing in Aniimo, promoting you to Wayfarer I.
Travel to Echoback Landing and look for the “Incense of Tolerance.”
This item will also be guarded by a fight and won’t be a simple pickup.
Clearing the fight will give you the Echoback Salt, which you will also have to hand to Sunia.
Leg 3: The Incense of Courage in Russet Highlands
I found this leg to be the longest of all. This final one requires you to complete Elite Training Chapter 4, reach Level 45, and finish the Growth Story quest, Promotion: Core’s Nurture. This will promote you to Wayfarer II.
Do the following to finish this leg:
- Head to Russet Highlands. Before you reach the objective marker, you can spot Playful Helmut and a romping Helmut talking; before they run off, follow them.
- Complete the Warrior Journey side quest, as this is the same quest chain tied to unlocking the Inferlupa. If you have already unlocked the creature, then you may already have a head start here.
- Talk to the painter Sorora.
- Follow the marker to find clues scattered through the Russet Highlands.
- Twine with a Helmut and shatter the Dragonclaw Stone.
- Defeat Infergon, which is a boss fight that also revives Pawney’s legend.
- Pick up the Flame Flower waiting in the middle of the boss arena.
- Return to Sorora to wrap up this leg.
Finishing the Ancient Sacred Fragrance Quest in Aniimo
After you have gathered all three of the required ingredients, you can play out the ending sequence like this:
- Go to the objective marker to watch the dialogue scene. Sunia will mention that she needs a “Flameheart Stone,” which is actually the Flame Flower.
- Talk to Sunia under a nearby tree after the previous conversation ends.
- Fast travel back to Bloomville and look for Velouria, who will be waiting there.
- Talk to Sunia again to watch a cutscene of her creating the Aeon Incense, which is followed by a scene involving Velouria and Irelia.
- Talk to Velouria for the last time to officially finish the quest.
Finishing the Aniimo quest will lead to the next stretch of main story quests, which comes with its own rounds of Elite Training tasks.
That is the complete path for the Ancient Sacred Fragrance Quest in Aniimo. Do note that the last leg is the meatiest one and stretches a little, but if you follow the markers properly, it will be done in no time.
