Bankruptcy is not a pretty picture for any business, especially if you are running a business where you are smashing piggy banks to make money, like in the video game Bills Must Be Paid. But what actually is Bankruptcy in the game, and how does it work?
Here we will cover all the details related to Bankruptcy in the video game Bills Must Be Paid.
What is Bankruptcy in Bills Must Be Paid?

Bankruptcy is a game-over screen in Bills Must Be Paid; it signals the run is officially over, and you will move to the second cycle or second run in a typical roguelike fashion.
When you can’t pay your bills in Bills Must Be Paid, you will file for Bankruptcy. The system acts in the same manner as dying to a boss in a typical roguelike game. This puts you at the start of the run with none of the upgrades you unlocked but with a few trinkets and perks to change the game on the next run.
Earning Legacy Points
In Bills Must be Paid, for every $50 you pay as a bill, you will earn a single Legacy Point. These points are permanent; unlike the skills or cards, you will get to keep these Legacy Points forever and spend them on Rings to make your next run stronger and better.
Note: The number has to be $50 to earn a point, so even if you paid $75 or $85 or $95 before Bankruptcy, you will only receive 1 Legacy Point. You will only get a second point if you pay at least $100 on bill payment.
So the goal is to pay as many bills as possible before you run into the wall of Bankruptcy. After the run is over, you will get a Legacy Point for every $50 you paid as a bill. If you paid $200 in bills, then you will be rewarded with four Legacy Points.
Declaring Bankruptcy
You also have the option to cut the run short by declaring Bankruptcy, which will end the cycle or run and put you back at the start. In short, you are just hitting the Restart Mission, but you will make all the Legacy Points from bill payments.
The option for Declaring Bankruptcy shows up at the end of the round, when you get the selection screen: Upgrade, Pay Bill, and Continue.
Tip: If you don’t have the money to pay the bill, then contact Big Toni via the cellphone to lend you the money.
What to do with Legacy Points?

You will spend the Legacy Points on buying Rings and Earrings. They are not just for appearance; each ring has value to make the next cycle or the next run better.
The game has 20 Rings, and the cost of rings gradually goes up in value. The very first ring will cost you a single Legacy Point, while the ring at the end will have a price tag of 1 million Legacy Points.
In short, having more Legacy Points will make each run much stronger, and you will last for more rounds before getting the Bankrupt letter.
