Last Epoch was supposed to feature a dedicated MacOS version when the game was first announced. However, following Apple’s decision to move away from Intel CPUs that use x86-64 architecture, Eleventh Hour Games had to scrap the Last Epoch Mac version.
But with the full release soon approaching, there might be some good news for Mac gamers.

Can I Play Last Epoch On Mac?
While there is no official MacOS version for this game (nor will there be for at least some time after the 1.0 release), there are a few ways through which you can still play Last Epoch on your MacBook.
Given the complexity and lack of an official Mac client, it is possible that running Last Epoch On Mac might not work out for some players. That being said, you can try using the following ‘creative’ ways to play the game on your Apple device:
Use BootCamp To Play Last Epoch On Mac
Try this simple method if you have a Mac running on an Intel CPU. Please note that new Apple Silicon Macs featuring M-series chips will not support BootCamp. This software will allow you to install a Windows operating system on your Mac.
Here’s how you can do it:
- Download the Windows ISO File.
- Go to ‘Applications,’ select ‘Utilities,’ and open the ‘Boot Camp Assistant.’
- Define the ‘Windows Partition Size‘ and select the recently downloaded Windows ISO File.
- Format the freshly created Windows Partition (allocate at least 64 GB for Windows) and follow the installation steps prompted by the Windows Installation Wizard.
- After the successful installation, your computer will reboot.
- Follow the instructions that appear after the first reboot to install the BootCamp and Windows Support Drivers.
- After launching Windows, simply install Steam and download the game.
Note: Installing BootCamp will require you to reboot your machine each time you want to switch from MacOS to WindowsOS.
Use Game Porting Toolkit To Play Last Epoch On Mac
If you have a Mac computer that features an M-series chip, try using the Game Porting Toolkit. This method has been used by a gamer AKMAD, who posted his findings on the Last Epoch forum.
It isn’t completely foolproof though, and even the user who tried this method in October 2023 (along with some others who followed suit) has had a fair share of various errors and bugs. For your reference, the player who has tried it was using a MacBook Pro with an M1 Max chip and 32 GB of RAM.
Use the following steps to install a Windows version of Steam on your Mac:
- Go to Apple Games and download the Game Porting Toolkit.
- Download and install Xcode 15.
- Now you will be able to install the Game Porting Toolkit.
- Follow these step-by-step instructions carefully to install the Toolkit. This will be a time-consuming process.
- After the Game Porting Toolkit has been successfully installed, install Steam.
- Make sure to download and install the Windows version of Steam, not the MacOS version.
- If all goes well and the instructions mentioned in the guide are followed to the point, you will be able to download and play Last Epoch via Steam.
- This download might take some time, so being patient is important.
Note: AKMAD has cautioned the players that this emulator might not work perfectly.
Some other methods have proven fruitful for people. One user has reported using CrossOver, a paid software that lets you run Windows software on MacOS. Parallels Desktop is yet another solution that lets you run Windows simultaneously on your Mac computer.
