Crimson Desert leaves you with a unique experience, but in some cases, you will deal with strange glitches and bugs that can make you wander around the map aimlessly, looking for an NPC or item that will only show up after a hard reset. The new faction quest does have one of the strange bugs that can stop your progression. It happens during Footsteps in Unfamiliar Lands; the task is simple, but the option to start it will not activate, no matter how many times you press the button.
In this guide, I will walk you through a step-by-step guide on how to complete the Footsteps in Unfamiliar Lands objective in the faction quest A Wider World. Here, we must do things differently and approach the game a bit manually to complete the task at hand.
Footsteps in Unfamiliar Lands Quest
One of the objectives in the faction quest “A Wider World” is “Footsteps in Unfamiliar Lands.” If you look at the details, it states, “Dispatch Auronui Island Pioneering Mission.” Talk to the Base Camp Dispatch Coordinator, and choose “Mission Dispatch.” Once you are on the Mission Dispatch screen, press RB to switch to “Activity”, and then scroll down until you see the option “Auronui Island Pioneer“. The game will not let you; instead, you will get a message: “The captain and ship must be near the island.” (As shown in the image above)
Long story short, we must figure out a different way to dispatch the comrades on a mission to Auronui Island. Here, we will do things a bit manually to complete the objective.
- First, get on the ship and travel all the way south of Auronui Island. Now, if you click on the anchor icon on the island, you will not be able to do it. There is a specific way to activate the anchor icon on the island.
- Press RT on the Map menu to switch to the “Facilities” sub-option. Facilities acts as a filter that shows only the facilities on the map; on Auronui Island, that’s the anchor icon. This will allow you to choose the Anchor icon on the island.
- Under the Facilities tab, press the “Y button” on the controller to open up the Mission screen, as highlighted in the image. Now you can send the comrades on a Dispatch Mission to Auronui Island, as detailed in the image. After you have picked the candidates for the task, the entire Dispatch Mission will take about 12 hours to complete.
- After 12 hours, go to the same location on the map, south of Auronui Island, and choose Filter to bring up the same Dispatch Mission screen. Now, on the Dispatch Mission screen, you will get the option to select Complete Mission at the bottom of the screen; press A on the controller to complete it.
Note: While you can interact with the Camp Dispatch Coordinator to complete the Dispatch Mission, it will not work for this one. You will get the option to Complete Mission, but clicking it will not do anything.
Press A to complete the mission and complete the Footsteps in Unfamiliar Lands quest in Crimson Desert.
