Grounded 2’s Into the Abyss update brings a whole underwater section to deal with, and it is quite exciting to craft new items and deal with different enemies. Crushed Quartz is one of the materials that was added to the game with the latest update. However, I was a little confused at first, until I figured out the method. There is no Crushed Quartz just waiting to be picked up somewhere, but you need to craft it.

How to Get Crushed Quartz in Grounded 2
You get Crushed Quartz in Grounded 2 from Phantom Quartz Shard at a Quern. Here’s how you can do it:
Harvest Phantom Quartz first. They are pink, glowing crystals that are found in a cave beneath the Gnarly Bark tree near the Ranger Outpost. Break the Quartz with a hammer and collect Phantom Quartz Shards. You can then bring the Phantom Quartz back to a Quern and grind it into Crushed Quartz.
Do remember that you need a Quern before you do all this. You cannot get Crushed Quartz without it. You can craft a Quern with the following resources:
- 4 * Clay
- 3 * Sturdy Quartzite Shard
- 2 * Lint Rope
- 3 * Pine Cone Piece
- 2 * Striped Scorpion Chunk
When exploring the Gnarly Cave for Phantom Quartz, keep the following tips in mind; they will make your life much easier:
- I regretted not bringing a torch. You will be lost inside for a good while without one.
- Bring a mount or a buggy if possible. While it is not mandatory, having one makes your trip a lot faster.
- Be prepared for a fight. While the first crystal is easy to grab, the ones inside are guarded by creatures. Be careful before rushing in blind.
The deeper you push, the harder enemies you get, so don’t expect a quick trip inside. However, if you just need a small amount of Phantom Quartz Shards, grab the first one you see after entering the cave.
Crushed Quartz Uses in Grounded 2
Crushed Quartz can be used as stepping stones toward a few things you will require as you progress through the game. Some of them are:
- Fire Brick: Requires Crushed Quartz along with Clay in an Oven.
- Quartz Glass: Requires Crushed Quartz along with Horsetail Stem at a Kiln.
- The Diving Suit chain: Quartz Glass is required for underwater gear, which is required for the Into the Abyss DLC.
It is also used to craft the Reflex Guard Trinket – one of the 10 new Trinkets introduced in the Into The Abyss update.
