I’ve been digging through Grounded 2’s Rot and Ruin public test build (0.6.0), and the new gear is exactly what the Woodpile infestation needed. Termites have moved in, a Centipede boss is on the menu, and with them come two full armor sets, a staff, a cannon, and the new Yoking Press for tier upgrades. This update lets you try new builds, and the new cannon can absolutely change how combat works.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new armor and weapons in Grounded 2’s Rot and Ruin update.
All New Armor and Weapons at a Glance in Grounded 2 Rot and Ruin

The Rot and Ruin update for Grounded 2 adds two distinct armor themes (Centipede / Centi-Cultist and Termite) plus two new weapons. You’ll craft most of them from parts dropped by the new Termite family and the Centipede boss. The Yoking Press also lets you push existing gear through higher tiers. This makes collecting the armors and weapons extremely exciting, as you can go through a power trip the more you upgrade your gear.
Let’s go through the armors and weapons one by one:
Centi-Cultist Armor Set & Cane-tipede Staff

The Centipede boss fight is one of this update’s biggest additions, and it comes with its own full armor set and dedicated weapon.
Centipede Armor Set: Crafted from Centipede parts after you take down the boss. Let’s take a look at the complete set:
- Centi-Cultist Mask: Offers Major Woozy Reduction.
- Centi-Cultist Robe: Summon Critical
- Centi-Cultist Leggings: Summon Critical
- Cane-tipede (Centipede Staff): The new staff weapon tied to the same fight. Deals Venom Damage and summons Venom creatures.
This set bonus on the entire armor set offers Call From Beyond, which helps you increase your chances of summoning a Termite Soldier during battle when you attack your enemies. This is a massive boost that you should not miss. Furthermore, upon every upgrade, you will receive a summon speed bonus.
You’ll also unlock a new mutation, a trinket, Centipede furniture (Cauldron, Candle, Apothecary), and stuffed/wall-mount trophies from the same encounter. This is one of the best boss fights in the game as well, and the rewards just make it sweeter.
Termite Armor Set & Splinter Cannon

Much like the Centi-Cultist set, the Termite family (Workers, Soldiers, Queen, and the O.G.R.R. King) also brings its own gear. That said, it is not tied to a boss fight; instead, this one is found by exploring the new area called the Rotting Wood Pile. Here’s what the set includes:
- Termite Tricorne (head): Offers Dust Guard
- Termite Half-Plate (chest): Parry Damage
- Termite Boots (legs): Parry Damage
- Splinter Cannon and Ammunition: Can fire Splinter Shots, Mint Shots, Spicy Shots, and Sour Shots.
The set bonus for this armor set is called Stopping Power, which offers you more Stun bonus upon performing a perfect block for a short duration. The ranged option is tied to the termite invasion of the Woodpile.
New Upgrade System – The Yoking Press

The update also introduces the Yoking Press, a new building that lets you upgrade your gear through tiers. This applies to both the new Rot and Ruin equipment and existing weapons and armor, giving you a clearer progression path as you push into higher difficulty content.
Quick Notes for Players
- All of the above is currently available in the Rot and Ruin Public Test Build (0.6.0) on Xbox and Steam.
- Progress on the test servers may or may not carry over to the full release.
- New resources like Bismuth and Spew Spores feed into crafting, and Termite Delight is one of the new consumables you can make.
That’s the complete list of new armor and weapons arriving with The Rot and Ruin update. Once the full patch drops, these sets and the Cane-tipede staff should become the go-to options for anyone heading into the Woodpile or hunting the Centipede.
