You can fill it up by doing all sorts of things in combat, like landing successful melee attacks, parrying at just the right time, and pulling off a perfect dodge. Even taking damage will help charge it up, which makes sense since the form is all about embracing the chaos of battle. At first, the game automatically activates Beast Mode as soon as the meter is full, throwing Kyle into the frenzy without you having to do anything. This isn’t like getting fuel; there’s a set way.
This automatic trigger really highlights how wild and uncontrollable this newfound power is at the beginning. As you keep playing and take down the tough Chimeras, you’ll earn GSBs, which you can use to unlock skills in the Beast Mode section of the skill tree. Putting points into this tree lets you gain more control over the ability. One of the best skills you can unlock is called “Beast Controlled.”
This lets you manually activate the form with a specific input, like pressing down both joysticks or using Z+X on a keyboard. The meter still has to be full to start the transformation, but this skill lets you choose exactly when to unleash the Beast, rather than waiting for an automatic trigger. The ultimate level of control is the “Apex Predator” skill at the very end of the tree, which lets you activate Beast Mode even when the meter isn’t full.
What Do I Need to Press to Use Beast Form in Dying Light: The Beast?
As you keep playing and defeating Chimeras, which are basically the main story’s bosses, you’ll collect GSBs. These act as points you can use to upgrade your Beast Mode abilities in the skill tree. This is where you start to get some real control over your monstrous form. A major turning point is when you unlock the “Beast Controlled” skill. Once you have this, you can press both joysticks at the same time, or Z+X on your keyboard.
Just remember, even with this new control, the meter still has to be full before you can activate it. But it gets even better. At the very end of that skill tree is the “Apex Predator” skill.
