Baldur’s Gate 1 fans will remember the Bhaalspawn known as Sarevok Anchev, the main villain of the game. But how do you beat Sarevok in Baldirs Gate 3? He is found sitting on his throne in the Murder Tribunal under Candulhallow’s Tombstone. You and the party will encounter him while completing the ‘Get Orin’s Netherstone’ quest when you go to investigate the murders.
How To Defeat Sarevok In Baldurs Gate 3
Beating Sarevok can be really tough in Baldurs Gate 3, there are many ways and tactics you can apply to defeat him. Here are the tactics you should use to defeat Sarevok:
- Make sure to kill the three Death Knights at the door first, as these knights will later join the fight with Sarevok and make things much harder.
- Your best tactic is to use Otto’s Irresistable Dance. If it hits, it will take him out of combat for 10 whole turns as long as the caster does not take any damage. This will allow you to focus on the ghosts while Sarevok is out.
- Keep in mind if you kill ALL of the ghosts then Sarevok gets a permanent buff, so it’s best to thin their numbers but avoid killing all of them. You can also block the door with a Wall of Stone before the dialogue to stop more knights from joining the battle.
- Use Haste as much as you can on your melee characters. At the same time, make sure to keep your mage out of range from attacks. Whenever Sarevok invokes Haste or any other enemies, use Arrows of Arcane to cancel it.

- Have a Rogue character like Astarion on the ledge towards the right side of his chamber. This can be very powerful if you manage to keep them hidden and throw in stealth-ranged attacks from there. You can also use Arrows of Arcane to cancel Haste on enemies via this character.
- Using the Hold Person or Polymorph spell on Sarevok can be very beneficial as well if you manage to actually hit it. In theory, you should be able to do this twice in the whole fight and take most of his health down without letting him fight.
- Lastly, make sure to use your scroll spells. This fight requires a lot of spell work to come out victorious and it’s not always possible to do that with limited characters and their spells. I advise you to use all your saved-up scrolls for this fight like I did since it is by far one of the hardest boss fights in Balders Gate 3.
