How Can I Fix The Mouse Freezing Glitch In The Finals?
There are several ways to tackle The Finals mouse freezing glitch. We will go through all of them.
Switching To DirectX11 Via Launch Options
In several cases, the reason behind your mouse freezing while playing the game might be related to the fact that The Finals runs on DirectX 12 as default. DX12 has been attributed to occasional mouse stutters and freeze-ups during the gameplay. To counter this, change the Finals’ DirectX mode to DX11 through the Steam Launch options as many gamers have reported that switching to DX11 alleviated their issues.
To make The Finals run on DX11, follow these steps:
- Open Steam and go to your games library.
- Look for The Finals game and right-click on the icon.
- In the menu that appears, select ‘Properties‘ and go to the ‘General‘ tab.
- Scroll towards the end to find ‘Launch Options‘
- Type in ‘-dx11‘, close the menu, and launch the game.
- If the issue persists, follow all the above steps once again and this time, try typing ‘-d3d11‘ instead of ‘dx11’.
- If neither of these options works, reconfigure the changes, i.e. restore it to default ‘-dx12‘, and try one of the below-mentioned other ways.

Changing The USB Port
One of the quickest and easiest ways to counter The Finals mouse freezing problem is to simply unplug your mouse from its current USB port and try another one. At times, playing with your mouse plugged into a USB 3.0 port may not be registered properly for The Finals. If you are currently using a 3.0 port, try switching to a USB 2.0 port to see if this quick fix works.
If you are playing with a wireless mouse, try a wired mouse instead, or try plugging it with a wire if that is an option.
Note: The same goes for your other USB-connected devices, such as a keyboard or microphone. If you are having any issues with certain key jams or the microphone not working, try switching it to another USB port.
Changing The Mouse Driver Settings
If you have tried changing the USB port and you’re still facing mouse freezing in The Finals, we recommend changing the mouse driver settings. The exact steps will vary depending on the brand of mouse you have.
First things first, go into your mouse software (Razer Synapse for Razer mice, Logitech G Hub for Logitech mice, etc.) and try reducing the Polling rate of your mouse. Bring it down to 500Hz to begin with. If it doesn’t work, try bringing it down to the lowest setting, i.e. 125Hz. If this also does not work, try changing your mouse’s sensitivity stages to see if any one of them works.
