Solving the Defiled Temple puzzle below the Goblin Camp gave me access to Underdark, which is quite important to solve quests for Shadowheart. The aforementioned puzzle has four different plates with each of them showing new moons, full moons, and half-moons.
Here’s how I completed this puzzle.
How To Solve the Defiled Temple Puzzle In Baldur’s Gate 3
You can find the Moon Puzzle in Priestess Gut’s room. Once you do unlock the door, you will have to either fight Gut and her bodyguard, Polma or sneak your way through them. Once you do either of those things, you will arrive at the puzzle.
Before you proceed, I recommend that you ungroup the other members of the party so they do not get in your way when you solve the puzzle. Now, the solution is to rotate the panels in such a way that all of the New Moons a.k.a the black circles are in the spotlight at the bottom circle. Every other dot in each panel should be full moons.
Best Answer: Follow the sequence in this exact order to solve the puzzle:
- Rotate the top wheel once
- Then rotate the left wheel once
- Now rotate the right wheel twice
- Spin the bottom wheel three times
- Rotate the left wheel twice.
This should solve the puzzle and grant you access to the Underdark.
How To Bypass The Puzzle
Players with high enough perception-based companions can completely bypass this puzzle. To do so, you will require high amounts of Perception and Sleight of Hand. If you do, head on over to the Northeast wall and someone will notice a lever.
Upon noticing the lever on the side of the wall, lockpick it or use the Priestess’ Key to advance further.
