Interacting with any resource node in Aion 2 requires the process of Essence Extraction, a fancy word that breaks down to a simple gathering or mining action in a typical open-world game. Instead of literally using a pickaxe to mine, in Aion 2, we are using magic to extract the item we need from ore. Just like many things in the game, Essence Extraction also has a second level: Professional Essence Extraction. Unfortunately, you are not going to unlock Professional Essence Extraction right away.
In this guide, I will guide you on how to unlock the Professional Essence Extraction Skill in Aion 2, including all the basic information you must know about the process of Essence Extraction in the game.
How to upgrade to Professional Level Essence Extraction in Aion 2?
Reaching Novice Level. 50 and completing the “[Upgrade] Essence Extraction Speciality Skill” quest for Koirus will grant you the professional upgrade in Aion 2. Once you get to Novice Level 50, you can upgrade to Professional. The game will automatically start the quest “[Upgrade] Essence Extraction Speciality Skill”. Do note the recommended character level for the quest is Lv. 45. Completing the quest will grant us the ability to reach Professional Level Essence Extraction. The quest breaks down into two simple objectives:
- Talk to Korius to Start the Quest
- Find Ruby and extract the Splendent Ruby
- Return the Splendent Ruby to complete the quest.
First, make your way to the Dawn Legion Base, located northwest of the map, as shown in the image above. Once you are here, talk to a man named Korius, an Artisan Essence Extractor, standing by the camp. After talking to him for the very first time, you will get a task to Essence Extract a Ruby deposit and bring back Splendent Ruby. This item is part of the Ruby Deposit, so you must hunt down the deposit to find the item we need to complete the quest.
Essence Extraction: Essence extraction breaks down to mining or gathering; it’s a magical method of mining the ingredient out of the ore. Splendent Ruby is part of the Ruby Deposit, so our job is to find a Ruby Deposit, and then perform the Extraction to get Splendent Ruby out of it. The best thing about this Extraction mechanic, the more you use it, the better you get at extraction. You can extract a single node or deposit 2 to 4 times. At first, the success rate for Essence Extraction will be low; the best thing to do here is to repeat the action more times to get better at it.
Where to Find Ruby and Extract, Splendent Ruby?
Verteron Fortress Valley is the perfect spot to hunt down Ruby deposits on the map. Now travel to Verteron Fortress Valley, in the middle of the map. This area is filled with cliffside rocks, and if you look closely amongst the darkest spots in the rocks, you will find a glowing diamond-shaped object. If you are having a difficult time finding the spot, take your search area near the Verteron Fortress Ruin’s boundary wall. I highly advise you to take the Ruby search in the air; avoid the ground to avoid getting involved in any combat encounter.
Other Ruby Locations (Asmodian/ Elyos): Ruby can be found in Dredgion Crash Site, Calderon Canyon, Tranein Highland, Silent Hill, and Nameless Cemetery in the Asmodian region. For the Elyos region, look for places such as: Ellun River Midstream, Verteron Fortress Ruins, Destroyed Abyss Gate, and Kraka Footpath.
Once you finally find a Ruby, it’s time to perfect the extraction. Just interact with the Ruby to perform the Essence Extraction; here, you will see two different progress bars at the bottom of the HUD:
- Success Progress Bar (Blue Color): Once the blue progress bar reaches the end, the extraction will be successful.
- Fail Progress Bar (Orange Color): If the orange bar reaches the end, then the extraction will fail.
The extraction will depend on whichever progress bar gets filled up faster. If the Success Progress bar fills up faster, then you will get the item; same goes for the other side. If the Fail progress bar fills up, then the extraction will be unsuccessful.
Tip: Unlocking special Essence Extraction skills such as Delicate Touch, Lady Luck, or Proficient Handling will help you push the Success Progress Bar quicker during extraction. You can unlock all these upgrades on the Essence Extraction Screen in the main menu.
At the top of the Success and Fail progress bars, you will see the name of the ingredient from the extraction. When you interact with the Ruby for extraction, you will see the Ruby Gemstone, then the progress bar for Success and Fail. After you succeed in extracting the Ruby Gemstone, the next extraction ingredient will be Splendent Ruby (Bound).
Now, head back to Korius at Dawn Legion Base to complete the “[Upgrade] Essence Extraction Speciality Skill” quest and get the title Essence Extraction Professional.
Proficiency Levels
Currently, there are two grades of Essence Extraction Proficiency. Leveling up grants common skill points; once every 10th level up, you will get Specialty Skill Points.

Each level adds +5 to the Success Progress Bar, – 8 points to the Fail Progress Bar, and a +4 % chance to Lady Luck during the Essence Extraction. Do note that after Lv.6, Lady Luck goes up 3% every level instead of 4%. If you are wondering what Lady Luck even is? It’s a stat that greatly increases the success progress bar at critical moments.
