The topic of Modern Warfare 4 appearing on Game Pass is one that Call of Duty fans are often discussing ahead of Infinity Ward’s upcoming release. In recent years, the latest instalment in Activision’s first-person shooter series has been available to Game Pass subscribers, and as the focus turns towards the beta, fans are wondering whether Modern Warfare 4 will be part of the subscription. With that said, here’s all the information you need to know.
Modern Warfare 4 Game Pass Explained

For the first time since Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare 4 will not release on Game Pass at launch. The decision comes as a result of poor sales figures for Black Ops 7, which was available as part of the subscription when it launched on November 14th, 2025.
Instead of Modern Warfare 4 launching on Game Pass, it’s believed that it will arrive on the platform approximately 12 months after its original release date. If you’re planning to load into Modern Warfare 4, you must pre-order the game on your preferred platform instead of pre-loading it through Game Pass.
Modern Warfare 4 Loyalty Discount Explained
Instead of loading into the action through Game Pass, Activision has introduced a new loyalty initiative for eligible members and anyone who’s played Call of Duty from 2019’s Modern Warfare to 2025’s Black Ops 7. If you’re eligible, you can purchase the Modern Warfare 4 Vault Edition with a 10% discount.
So far, active Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC subscribers are eligible to receive the loyalty discount, which takes $10/£10 off the Vault Edition’s initial price. Vault Edition owners can get their hands on the Season 1 BlackCell battle pass, exclusive Operator packs, and early access to the Modern Warfare 4 beta.
Modern Warfare 4 Beta Dates
Similar to previous Call of Duty betas, Modern Warfare 4’s beta takes place across two weekends, with those who preorder earning exclusive access to the opening four days. Weekend one takes place from August 21st to 25th, with the servers going live immediately after this year’s Call of Duty: NEXT broadcast.
The second weekend is open to all players on all platforms. No preorder is required to access weekend two, meaning everyone can see what Infinity Ward has in store for Modern Warfare 4. For the very first time, the Modern Warfare 4 beta will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, offering even more players a chance to load into the action.
