If you are looking for some much-needed relief from hunting down Genma in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, then you can speak to the citizens of Kyoto to pick up some unique side quests. Occasionally, you will have someone hand over an Old Drawing, which depicts a location where secret treasure is hidden away.
There are 5 of these treasure maps to find, and 5 treasure chests to unlock and get some unique rewards. But you need to find the quest givers first, and all of them are located around Kyoto. If you don’t like hunting down each NPC to get the treasure map, this guide will quickly hand over the location of each treasure map, along with the treasure chest location.
All 5 Hidden Treasure Locations in Onimusha: Way of the Sword
After unlocking the rest of the Kyoto map via main story quests, I suggest checking the map frequently to find new interaction points. Sometimes, you will find marked NPC encounters that will lead you to obtain a treasure map. None of the maps are missable, so you can always come back to them at a later time too.
Old Drawing No. 1 Solution

Starting from the southwestern section of Kyoto, you will find a woman NPC just northwest of Gojo Street – West Spirit Mirror. Speak to the NPC to pick up the first Hidden Treasure map. The hint on the map says the following: At the top of Kiyomizu-zaka Slope.

With that in mind, I could find this treasure by checking my map right after. Doing so will point you in the direction of the Kiyomizu-zaka Slope Spirit Mirror. Enter the alleyway on the left beside the shrine, then head up the stairs on your left. But don’t go completely up the stairs, as you will miss the ladder on your immediate left.

Use the ladder to get up, then go up the second ladder on your right too. Once on the roof, trigger your Oni Vision to find the spot where the chest will appear.
Interact with the spot to spot the chest and unlock it to get 1x Fine Silk Cloth and 2x Oni Stone.
Old Drawing No. 2 Solution

Don’t leave the Kiyomizu-zaka Slope just yet, as just north of the Spirit Mirror is another NPC who will give you another treasure map. Head back down and make your way a bit north of the mirror to find a young man standing outside a hut. After your conversation, he will give you the second treasure map, which again has a peculiar hint: Where the Buddhas overlook the flow.

To find this treasure chest, head over to the Yasaka Pagoda Spirit Mirror and go west. Continue down the street while looking to your right to find a waterfall. You would have visited this area during the Careful What You Wish For quest. Just across the Torii Gate is an alley where you will find a ladder and a small waterfall beside it.
Use Oni Vision near the waterfall to trigger the chest, which contains 1x Fine Silk Cloth and 2x Oni Stone.
Old Drawing No. 3 Solution

For this one, head all the way to the northern section of Kyoto. You can take the Shijo Street Spirit Mirror and go west from there. Eventually, you will find a young woman outside a store. Speak to her and get the third treasure map. This one has the following hint: At the temple where dragons soar.

For this treasure, head south from your previous location towards Kami River – East Spirit Mirror. From here, head east towards the same location where you fought the Genma Brothers. Enter the same area, but don’t go into the building. Rather, go right towards the garden. Use your vision near the gate to uncover the third treasure chest.
This chest contains 1x Fine Silk Cloth and 2x Power Stones.
Old Drawing No. 4 Solution

Head back to the northern section of Kyoto to find another NPC beside the woman who gave you the treasure map previously. This time, speak to the man at the store in Shijo Street to receive the fourth treasure map, which has the following hint: The mountain temple of the dead.

You now need to travel all the way southeast to find this treasure. Take the Gojo Street – East Spirit Mirror, then go up the stairs beside it. Cross the gap, then go left while staying northeast. Eventually, you will go uphill, and you will find some large stairs ahead. Climb up those and make your way left around the building.
Your Oni Vision will reveal the chest at the corner here, which contains 1x Fine Silk Cloth, 1x Tamahagane, and 2x Power Stones.
Old Drawing No. 5 Solution

You would have picked up this treasure map and chest if you had been hunting down Skeleton Hozuki and Hozuki Pouches. This chest contains the final Skeleton Hozuki, and you can pick up the treasure map from the woman in the northern section of Kyoto.

You will find her standing in front of the large gate. The treasure location is much easier to find too, as you just need to make your way to the Yasaka Pagoda east of the Rokudo-chinnoji Temple. Head all the way up once inside the Pagoda, then trigger Oni Vision at the roof to collect the final chest.
This chest contains the following rewards: 1x Fine Silk Cloth, 2x Oni Stone, and 1x Skeleton Hozuki.
