For more advanced crafting in Palworld 1.0, you will be on the lookout for high-tier materials. The most sought-after material is Hard Wood, and its spawn points are a bit hard to find. Plus, it doesn’t help that the trees you think will drop Hard Wood will drop just regular wood instead.
It becomes a bit of a gamble to get Hard Wood, unless you know the right places to farm. Here are some of the top spots where Hard Wood can come by quickly. Also included in this guide is a quick note on crafting High-Quality Wooden Board, a requirement for crafting all the new equipment and certain weapons in the game.
Best Places to Find Hard Wood in Palworld
Hard Wood is a mid- to late-game resource, and as such, you need to visit late-game areas to farm it more efficiently. You don’t need fancy tools to chop down Hard Wood trees, as a simple metal axe will help too. If you have Celesdir or any high-level Lumbering and Gathering Pal, then I recommend setting up a base near the locations mentioned below to gather Hard Wood efficiently.
Sky Island
While Sky Island looks barren, this is a good late-game spot to farm Hard Wood. I liked this area since all the trees here drop Hard Wood, which saves a lot of time. But first, get yourself a Flying Pal to reach the island and to help you fly overhead and find trees.
Sakurajima Island
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that this area has one of the best mining spots in the game – this was the case during EA also, and is the case now with the 1.0 version. Personally, I prefer cutting down the Sakura trees in the Dancing Sakura Shrine area to get Hard Wood, as these unique pink-leaf trees spawn in abundance. If you go after the light colored trees or the trees with larger trunks, then you get just regular wood and not Hard Wood. That’s something to keep in mind while checking out Sakurajima for Hard Wood.
Feybreak Island
As the final farming spot, all the trees across Feybreak will drop Hard Wood. Similar to Sky Island, you can fly overhead and set up a base near any cluster of trees and send out Pals to farm Hard Wood.
Twilight Dunes
If you wish to farm Hard Wood in the early game, then the closest location where you can find Hard Wood is northeast of the Anubis boss area. While here, look around for large cactus-like trees with spiky leaves and cut them down to get Hard Wood.
How to Automate Hard Wood Farm
I would suggest farming 100x Hard Wood in the wild quickly so you can build the Logging Site II structure. This structure unlocks at level 43, and you will require the following materials to craft it:
- Stone x50
- Paldium Fragment x20
- Ancient Civilization Parts x5
- Hardwood x100
- Ancient Technology Points x3
Once set up, place your best Lumbering Pals to work here and farm Hardwood passively while you are out and about.
How to Get High Quality Wooden Board
Head over to your workbench to craft the High Quality Wooden Board. Besides Hard Wood, you will also require the following materials.
