Doryani’s Science has become one of the notorious questlines in the Atlas section of Path of Exile 2. While the quest has amazing rewards, there are many ways to mess up the quest, breaking it permanently in the game. Triggering the quest also involves participating in many activities and clearing objectives to unlock the option to travel to the Immured Fury. If you are starting out in the game and want to complete the Doryani’s Science quest and don’t want to trigger the game-breaking bug. This guide will give you a complete walkthrough of the quest and the bugs attached to it in Path of Exile 2.
Doryani’s Science Quest – Travel to the Immured Fury

Once you get the quest objective “Travel to the Immured Fury“, a special node will appear on the cleansed section on the Atlas map. These are the sections of the map that we have already cleared or cleansed the corruption out of the region. If you are having a hard time finding the node, just head to the Search at the top of the Atlas World section, and search for “Immured” or “Fury” or “Cleanse”.
You will see the node on the map. When you hover your mouse over the Immured Fury node, the description will state Doryani has spotted the Immured Fury in this area. Now all you have to do is just play the map, and you will find Immured Fury in a random spot on the map.
However, there is a bug attached to the boss, which if you don’t keep a watch for, can permanently break this quest completion for you. Here’s what you need to take care of.
Immured Fury Bug & How to Fix
Killing the final boss on the map eliminates the spawning of Immured Fury and also tags the map with the word “Complete” on it. This led to much confusion, as it’s technically true, but Immured Fury is a hidden boss, tied to a story quest. If you leave the map or die before killing the Immured Fury, the boss will be bugged forever.
You need to kill the Immured Fury boss at your first chance, or it will not spawn again. One of the ways people break this questline, and the only way to do so, is by not killing Immured Fury and going after the final boss of the node. If you complete the map without taking out Immured Fury, then it will break the questline in your game. In your next turn, you will not see Immured Fury spawning on the map. And it doesn’t matter how many Corrupted Nexus maps you clear on Atlas. Breaking this quest also means you will be locked out of the Fourth or last Doryani Master Point.
You can think about making a new character, but the Atlas progression carries over through all characters. So if Character 1 had a bug on the Atlas map, you will encounter the same persisting bug on Character 2.
How not to break the Quest: I recommend that once you enter the map, just spend your time looking around and discovering everything, and you will eventually encounter Immured Fury. The boss has an RNG spawn point; every encounter will be different for everyone. Defeat Fury first, and then you can set your eyes on the main boss on the map. Don’t ever ignore or skip the boss fight by killing him; if you see Immured Fury, kill him, or there is a chance of triggering a permanent bug.
Another way to counter the bug is by joining a party of people who have Immured Fury on their Atlas. You can find the community members on the official Path of Exile Forum, Reddit, Discord, Global Chat, and more.
Unlock Doryani’s Science – Find Immured Fury Objective
The objective ‘Find Immured Fury’ sits at the latter end of Doryani’s Science quest. If you haven’t unlocked the quest in your game, here is a complete guide to unlocking the first part of Doryani’s Questline in Path of Exile 2.

In the Atlas tree, head to the corrupted regions, located southeast of the starting point. These areas will have a red hue around them, unlike the greenery around the common section on the atlas. These areas are always going to be filled with corrupted map nodes, and they will always lead to a Corrupted Nexus point node. Your task is simple: reach the Corrupted Nexus node, complete the map, and get rid of the corruption from the tower.
These Corrupted Nexus Towers are always going to be in the middle of the corrupted region. You will need to complete some common corrupted nodes; then you will be able to tackle the Corrupted Nexus spot. You will never have direct access to the Corruption Nexus Tower right away. As seen in the image above (The yellow circles are common corruption nodes, and the big star is a Corrupted Nexus node).
Note: Do note that the Corrupted Nexus Node requires Waystones with four modifiers (Commonly with Waystones of Rare Quality) to activate. Here, you can use Orb of Alchemy or Orb of Transmutation to get more modifiers on Waystones. Once you have a Waystone with 3 or 4 modifiers, insert it into the map node or, in this case, the Corrupted Nexus Node to activate. Waystones are dropped by killing enemies and taking part in various activities in the game.
Kill all the enemies in the nexus tower node, and then finally take down the boss, and Doryani will appear to cleanse the nexus tower. The next few tasks from Doryani will include cleansing three more Corruption Nexus Nodes on the Atlas until you are tasked with traveling to the “Immured Fury“.
