Chapter 8 starts in an unorthodox fashion, as it completely subverts the playstyle and gameplay that you have had so far in REPLACED. Instead of combat encounters or platforming, we take part in figuring out the location for four technicians and bring them to the Lead Technician by the bridge. I had a bit of trouble finding them, as the route to get to the locations is hidden in a couple of cases.
Here are the locations for all four technicians at Chapter 8 in REPLACED.
First Technician Location
He is located inside the Round Table Music Store. Talk to him and find the Veronica’s Rust album to complete his line of quest to send him back to the Lead Technician.
Second Technician Location
Head left of the Round Table Music Store, avoiding the drone’s line of sight by blending into the crowd. After a bit of walking, move down the flight of stairs to get to the bottom floor. Here, you will come across the second technician at the Food Vault shop. To help him out, just hack the terminal in the Food Vault, and you will complete the technician’s mission to get him moving.
Fourth Technician Location
Yes, the Fourth Technician before the Third one … and that is because this route is the best one to get both. This one is going to take a bit of time; he is waiting on the line to the Phoenix Savings & Loans building (Right of the Food Vault shop). The entrance to the building will have a massive queue line. The only way to make the fourth technician move is by hacking the queue machine.
Hacking Terminal Location
Take the flight of stairs, left of the Food Vault, the same stairs we used to get down to the lower floor. Don’t go all the way to the upper floor. Once you are at the landing area, jump over the railing on the left. This one is difficult to find, and the spot to hook the pickaxe is well hidden. Now, after performing some platforming, you will enter the new area. But you won’t be alone; you will have to fight off a bunch of enemies.
Route to Hack the Terminal for Freeing the Queue
After defeating them, take the ladder down from the spot where all the enemies were defeated. We could take the route left and find the third technician, but we will skip it. Since the route to the third technician is the exit, the only way out of the room. We will save some time by putting the third technician interaction after the terminal hacking.
So take the ladder down to reach the bottom floor. Now, all you have to do is move to the right. Soon, after some platforming, you will eventually reach a dead end. Here, you will have to push the steam vent machine under the ladder to lift yourself to the top. Take the health upgrade on the right, before moving up the ladder.
The ladder section will then turn into two diverging routes, one on the left and one on the right. First, take the route on the right to find the terminal and hack it. Now get out and take the route left, and it will directly link to the room where we fought the enemies.
Third Technician Location
Once you are back at the spot where we defeated the enemies, take the route left, hack the terminal, and keep moving to the left, and you will find the third technician talking amongst his people. Now you have two choices: either to threaten or persuade him to get back to the Lead Technician. I chose to Persuade, and he went back to the Lead Technician.
Getting Back to Fourth Technician
There are no shortcuts to the area with the fourth technician; from the third technician, move to the left, use the same platform we used before at the start of the 8th chapter to get back to the Phoenix Savings & Loans spot.
Get close to the crowd in front of Phoenix Savings & Loans Spot, and Reach will automatically hack the terminal to move the queue, freeing our fourth technician. Once he is freed, he will automatically join the rest of the squad, all three we rescued before.
