When you are building a base, you have to treat the location as if you were building an actual home in the real world. Not having proper access to a resource will make the entire gameplay revolving around base maintenance tedious, slow, and a repetitive grind. Especially in a game like RuneScape Dragonwilds, this can be a problem with the large world, enemies, and resources.
Here I will guide you through some of the best spots to set up a proper base in RuneScape Dragonwilds.
All the Best Locations for Base Building
Not all areas are going to be the same, even with all the necessary amenities like water, trees, fishing spots, etc. I will also take scenery into account; having a great view around the base is also a +1 point to base location.
Base Location #1 | Temple Woods

Location: A bit east of Temple Woods, west of Bramblemead Valley.
This area is perfect for setting up your very first base in the game. The area offers a good water source and a lot of farming spots. Another interesting thing to note about this area also offers a large amount of space for building and a sweet fishing spot. Do note, this area is a tier 2 area, so you will have to deal with multiple waves in a raid.
Base Location #2 | Temple Woods

Location: This one is west of Temple Woods.
We are moving west from the first base location. The area is located directly north of the church, west of Temple Woods. The question then becomes what makes this area perfect compared to the last one; and the answer is simple: this area is more of an upgrade over the last one. Here, you will have access to: More Space, More Trees and oak trees, a massive source of Water, Multiple Fishing Spots, Runes, and more.
Compared to the first spot, this one is a tier 1 area, which means fewer enemies or waves to deal with in a raid. You will have an easier time fending off enemies in a raid compared to the first spot.
Base Location #3 | Fractured Plains

Location: This one is located southwest of Fractured Plains.
Let’s go down to why this area is suitable for a base:
- A decent water source
- Two Fishing Net Locations
- Two common fishing locations
- Well-defined area, with a wooden bridge over water.
The highlight here is the scenery overlooking the entire region from your base and a nice waterfall adding more value to the aesthetic of the place. If you do care for a wonderful sight around your base without making any sacrifice on the necessary resources for the base, this one hits the target.

Base Location #4 | Fractured Plains

Location: North of Fractured Plains.
If you look at the region, it’s covered with fog, but you can head to the place, and your route will be blocked by a large, intimidating door. We are not here to get to the next map; the area around the door is pretty huge, with a water source and an option for base building. There is only one single problem: this area is only suitable for single-player, so if you are in multiplayer, skip this spot.
Base Location #5 | Bleakfield’s Valley

Location: Here we’re moving a bit north of Bleakfield’s Valley.
This area will appear a bit ghoulish, with green flames and an ominous fog surrounding the area, making it closer to a Halloween setting for a horror movie than a liveable space. However, if you look past the horror-like setting, this base isn’t actually bad. The ruined building and remains of the fort add more to the atmosphere. For utilities, you have little of everything here; overall, this is one of the finest spots in the region to build your base on. Do watch out for the zombies; it’s better to build a wall to be on the safe side of things.
Base Location #6 | Witchwillow Range

Location: Area south of Witchwillow Range.
What makes this particular location interesting compared to the rest of them mentioned above is the amount of enemies you will have to deal with in the zone, which is none. Here you are dealing with a zero-enemy area with access to pretty much everything you need for a base. You also have access to a cave; inside, you will find a treasure chest where you can grind Soul Essence. The area has a good amount of flat space for building, a fishing spot, a runes farm spot, berries, coal, standard trees, willow trees, and more.
Note: You do get raids, and you will face challenging enemies in raids.
Base Location #7 | Library Courtyard

Location: The area in the middle of the Library Courtyard.
This area is pretty huge, and the scenery is livelier than the ghoul-ish atmosphere of the Witchwillow Range. Here you will be able to see the sun, with a good number of water sources and fishing spots, and lastly, not having to deal with any enemies in an area is always a plus. Another highlight here is a chest that you can farm repeatedly to get more goods. Overall, the area is huge, and you have enough space to start the construction of many objects without worrying about limitations.
Tips for Picking the Best Location
If you want to set up a base in your own personalized location, do take a look at the helpful tips to help you find the best spot for the next base you have in mind.
- Just like many civilizations in the real world, when you are planning to set up a base, always be on the lookout for a water source. Having a water source will help out immensely with farming without having to constantly walk back and forth between two locations to sustain.
- Pick an area with a relatively common enemy level; setting up a base in a high-level area will result in tougher enemies in raids. If the enemies in the area are high level, then raids are going to be tougher.
Tip: Just walk out of the camp to avoid the raid. Do note, raids only happen if the enemy spots you inside the base. If you leave the base after the enemies blow the war horn, you will be safe, and so will the base.
- Lastly, do build your base next to Kebbit burrows; they will help you fast travel around the map easily. The absolute best thing about them is the cost of travel, which is zero. You can travel to large distances without paying a single dime; now that’s a win!
