The Shifting Sands DLC for Soulmask is not holding anything back; the very first boss encounter puts the player through a difficult trial. It is one of the bosses; the longer the time goes on, the tougher the fight gets, which lessens your chance of survival. The constant heavy melee attacks and debuffs took me out of the picture more than I am willing to admit. Here’s how you should prep and fight Sobek in Soulmask
Requirement for Sobek Boss Fight
The boss fight with Sobek doesn’t happen automatically; you will need to possess some specific items to get even started. Here is the list of items you will need:
- 5x Premium Fresh Meat
- 5x Beast Bone
- 5x Beast Blood
- 1x Worship Container
All Sobek Attacks
Here we will be talking about all of Sobek’s attacks and how they can be handled, and the best way to lessen or completely avoid the damage. The boss is pretty quick with its attack and always has an AoE range to almost all of its attack moves. Rushing into the combat with the sole purpose of causing damage will put you out of the arena quickly.
Tail Spin and Tornado Attack

If you are hitting Sobek from its back, then it will perform a tail swing, then transition into a vortex or tornado. The transition into Tornado happens instantly, so if you see Sobek starting to swing its tail, the best thing to do is to make some distance and get out of the AoE attack range.
Only attack before and after the Tornado attack is over; don’t try to attack Sobek in the middle of the Tornado attack.
Note: Sometimes the Tornado attack will be made of fire, and other times it will be a mix of air and water. The element does not matter in terms of what you should be doing – just focus on avoiding it as quickly as possible.
Lightning Summons with AOE Explosion

Once you bring Sobek’s health down to 50%, it will summon lightning, which will transition into an AOE explosive attack. Suffice it to say, getting caught in the explosion will not be a pleasant experience for your HP. Here, you need to hide behind cover to completely avoid the damage. Luckily, during the attack, you will find rocky pillars around the boss. Just hide behind any one of them to avoid the attack.
Spinning Fire Breath

This attack is easily noticeable; you will see the fins at the back of the Sobek start glowing orange in a sequential manner. Once that happens, it’s our cue to get out of the boss’s line of sight. The attack will quickly launch into flamethrower mode and spit fire out of its mouth.
You need to make a good distance from the boss, since the attack has a good AoE range, and the Sobek will be spinning in circles with fire gushing out of its mouth. Don’t try to attack while it’s in the spinning animation.
Red Flash Attack

If you see Sobek’s eye glowing red, then it’s time to dodge whatever is coming your way. Do your best to avoid these attacks; getting caught in any one of them will eat up a huge chunk of your life. These attacks are not blockable.
Charge Spin Attack

Sobek will lift the upper half of its body and will rush at our location. The best thing to do is to dodge to either side; don’t try to dodge in the direction of the attack. The attack has good AoE, as Sobek will be spinning while it is rushing in our direction.
Rolling Move

If you are on the side of Sobek for too long, then it will do a rolling move in your direction. As you have guessed, you need to move right away to avoid getting caught in it.
This is the list of attacks that you should be worried about when you are dealing with Sobek. The viciousness and the ruthlessness of the attack might catch some players off guard, but with dodges and stamina conversation, you will be able to get a win.
Tips for Battling Sobek
If you are having problems, here are some tips that can make your boss’s fight experience a bit better.
- Always attack the Tail; it can be caught off. Once the Tail comes off, it will stun-lock Sobek for a few seconds.
- Conserve Stamina so we can use it to dodge. Especially during the debuff, when the entire floor is covered with mud.
- Try switching to a fast-paced weapon like a dual blade so you will feel a bit more flexible during combat.
- Don’t try to hit Sobek with more hits between its attack animation; land one or two swings will be perfect. The main idea is to conserve stamina for the dodge; wasting all of it on attack might not be a great idea.
