Where Winds Meet continues to deliver an AAA experience to players all around the world free of cost. The game has a huge map to explore full of collectibles, side quests, and other optional content. And with the 2.0 patch introducing the new Hidden Mountain region, the tradition keeps growing. This new area is filled with beautiful scenery, new oddities, and unique quests. In this guide, I will go over one such encounter quest in the Precipice Ridge sub-region.
Encounter Quest in Precipice Ridge

There is only one encounter quest in Precipice Ridge called “Tale Within A Tale”, but you can’t just stumble upon it – its pretty well hidden. Beats the whole point of “encounter”, but we can let that slide. Go to the westernmost section of the sub-region in Spiritroost Crag, and to the location shown in map. From here, take the stairs ahead until you reach the bridge. But don’t cross it yet. You need to jump down when you cross halfway, outside what looks like an abandoned shack at first.

Approach the shack, and you will get an eavesdrop opportunity on a mysterious stranger. He seems to be rambling about being separated from a loved one. Interact with him, and you get an initial hostile response, only for the guy to turn friendly immediately after. Guess he saw those swords. The man reveals himself to be Zhen Sheji, a writer who wants to turn his lover, An Ya’s story, into “a work for ages”.
He then proceeds to ask our hero to analyze the love letters they used to exchange. Read the two letters, and you find out that even though they seem innocent, clearly some foul play is involved. Next, you must look around for clues. One clue is near the vase and the other is at bedside. Interact with Zhen Sheji again and go through the four dialogue options – basically summarizing what you gathered up till now.

Once again, his answers sound very suspicious. So, to find out the truth, go near the mirror in his house and disguise yourself as his lover. He immediately panics and collapses to the ground once he sees “An Ya” again, after which the actual truth is revealed. The stranger is just your everyday bandit, looking for a big score. He killed An Ya’s true lover, Shen Mo, after which he became a wanted man. The events after he went into hiding led him to this shack, with our hero making sure that prison is his new home. But it’s not over yet.

A few days later, Constable Zhen Gui wants to meet you. He informs that a confession isn’t enough evidence to make an arrest. It also tracks back to an old case, so our hero offers to help yet again. Go downstairs and interact with the now prisoner Zhen Sheji, after which you get the idea enlist Big Feng’s help. Send him a letter and wait/skip for 2 in-game days.
In the reply, Big Feng confirms that Zhen Sheji was once a member of the Inkbound Order, but left on a bad note. An Ya took him in at his worst, providing him with food and shelter. She also asked him to turn her husband, Shen Mo’s murder, into a story. After she left, Zhen Sheji followed clues about her whereabouts that led him to Spiritroost Crag, where he vowed to finish the story. And as a gesture of gratitude for the help, Zhen Sheji implicated himself so the case could be reopened.

Constable Gui continues working in the meantime as well, finally catching the real killer with the help of Kaifeng authorities. Head back downstairs and tell Zhen Sheji the good news to complete the quest.
You get x50 Echo Jade, x50 Hidden Mountain Exploration, x15000 Coin, x22500 EXP, and x1 Pride of Mohist Hill for completing the quest.
