According to popular streamer Colt Eastwood, Contraband will not be making an appearance at the upcoming Xbox showcase.
While talking about various titles that might be featured in the 2023 Xbox Showcase on June 11, he claimed that the game’s developer, Avalanche Studios, is delaying the release of the title by an entire year. The game has been delayed internally and the expected release window of 2024 is postponed to 2025 or even 2026.
The Contraband game was announced at the 2021 E3, but owing to certain unforeseen issues in its development, the release window has reportedly been pushed. Neither Colt nor Avalanche Studios has offered any solid explanation for this delay as of yet.
Interestingly, according to another leaker, Extras1s, Contraband’s development is going according to the studio’s initial plans. He also claims that the title is currently in its second playtest and the reviews are generally good across the board. He thinks its entirely plausible that the game will be featured in the upcoming Xbox showcase.
This has sparked a debate amongst netizens, with several gamers stating that Colt Eastwood might not be a credible source. It’s a tough choice to make, really, as Colt has both missed and accurately predicted gaming developments in the past.

Whether or not this 70s heist co-op game will make a debut at the 2023 Xbox Showcase, it’s hard to say at the moment. Avalanche Studios has kept the information about the title very secretive. The only thing we know for sure is that this title is set to be a fast-paced heist action game with open world features and an emphasis on infiltration of highly secure facilities. There are several other games that we are sure we will get to see during this showcase. Some of the most notable amongst them include Forza Motorsport and Bethesda’s new title Starfield.
