Starbreeze Studios has recently announced the release of the Crude Awakening heist for Payday 2. The action-packed gameplay trailer features the last heist in the game, taking place on a highly secure SERA oil rig in the middle of the ocean. This heist is expected to be the last one ever for the Payday 2, concluding the Texas Heat Campaign in the game. The Crude Awakening heist is a paid DLC, available for players to be downloaded from June 28 through Steam and Epic Games Store.
Crude Awakening is most likely the last Payday 2 heist
According to the storyline, one of the rival gang members has gone into hiding in the Gulf of Mexico. It will be the robber gangs’ mission to weed him out to get their revenge. The Crude Awakening heist was supposed to be released on June 20; however, the release was delayed till June 28 owing to certain issues with character selection screen that needed to be sorted.
The trailer showcases some of the coolest battle moments and various new and heavy-duty weaponry. The DLC promises to deliver a unique musical experience in terms of soundtrack recorded by a prestigious Vienna orchestra, conducted by Gustavo Coutinho. The trailer features a brand-new soundtrack and a fresh single called ‘On the Road’.
The trailer features various memorable previous heists from the game, paired along a blurry old west filter and nostalgic music, perhaps indicating the end of an era. After all, Payday 2 is a decade old at this point. Nonetheless, the developers have managed to keep the content fresh and exciting for the players through regular updates and paid DLCs. However, this is supposed to be the last heist for the game, with Payday 3 releasing on September 21, 2023.
