The previously leaked Starfield-themed Xbox controller has been spotted in a retail store in France. Reddit user NJPW_Puroresu posted pictures of the box in a store shelf, and fans are finally relieved that it is real after all.
From what appears on the packaging, the controller features a retro space theme, with mainly red, golden, and orange accents. It also seems to feature various Starfield-specific control aids to easily remind users of various functions like exit, switching between modes, scans, and locking targets. The back panel of the controller is vibrant red, featuring the message ‘Property of the Constellation’ and the D-pad stands out with its stunning gold color.
Starfield Controller price stuns gamers
While gamers are generally excited about the new controller, the hefty price tag has created some discontent amongst the netizens. The controller featured in the leaked image boasts a hefty €90 price tag. The common Xbox controller in Europe usually goes for €60, with limited edition ones like this starting off at €70. The extra €10 is usually justifiable for a game-specific branding, but the supposed €30 bump in this case is making them think twice about the purchase.
Furthermore, some shared their concern that despite the high price tag, these will have the same disposable battery woes of standard Xbox controllers. The requirement for disposable batteries has always been an issue with them, with almost every other console controller featuring an in-built and rechargeable battery.
Starfield is set to release on June 22, with a standalone showcase scheduled for June 11. According to recent rumors, Bethesda is also set to release a demo for Starfield, which will include the gameplay of the first two hours of the game after the showcase.
