Stellar Blade, the upcoming PS5-exclusive action-adventure game has been rated as 18+ in Korea. Korea’s Game Management Committee has given the post-apocalyptic slasher game a ‘mature’ rating, owing to nudity and excessive violence.
In a document recently published by Korea’s Game Management Committee, the organization has claimed that Stellar Blade exhibits extreme and excessive violence. These include depictions of mutilation as well as decapitations. Furthermore, the committee also claims the protagonist of the game, Eve, to be

The committee has decreed that Stellar Blade is not permitted for use by young audiences. Some other reasons behind this decision include the inclusion of ‘red blood’ in the game, as well as directly suggestive expressions.
This is not surprising, as the extended gameplay trailers for Stellar Blade featured the protagonist Eve wearing form-fitting outfits. The developer has even stated that it has paid special attention to the protagonist’s backside since the players are bound to spend most of their time looking at the back of the character throughout the gameplay. Shift Up has also claimed that it sought to develop the ‘most attractive-looking body for the user’ in an interview with Push Square.
Stellar Blade is yet to receive age ratings in other regions. However, it seems likely that most regions will follow suit and the game might be made available only for mature audiences.
