Battlefield 6 brings back the original class system, giving players more ways to customize their playstyle through signature gadgets, traits, and training paths. The game has four main classes, and each one is built around specific combat roles and comes with exclusive abilities that impact how you approach objectives and enemies.

Battlefield 6: All Classes Explained

There are four main classes in Battlefield 6. You can pick from Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon, which you can try out in the beta.

Assault Class

The Assault class is made for aggressive, frontline combat. It’s perfect for players who want to charge headfirst into objectives, clear out enemies, and stay mobile during enemy encounters. Here is a brief overview of the Assault Class:

  • Signature Gadget: Adrenaline Injector – Instantly restores health and temporarily boosts sprint speed, explosive resistance, and awareness.
  • Signature Weapon Proficiency: Assault Rifles – Allows for faster weapon switching and sprint recovery.
  • Trait: Soft Landing – Reduces fall damage and no slowdown after landing.
  • Active Ability: Stimulant MK2 – Reveals nearby enemies. Killing enemies extends the ability’s duration.

You can also train your class down a few paths. Here are the training Paths:

  1. Grenadier
    • Carry extra grenades.
    • Reload gadgets faster.
    • Gain resistance to flashbangs and other visual impairments.
  2. Frontliner
    • Reduce movement penalty while firing.
    • Carry an extra Adrenaline Injector.
    • Improved health regeneration.

This class is ideal for fast-paced, intense situations where speed and adaptability make all the difference. Assault is also a great starting class for newcomers to the game.

Engineer Class

Engineers specialize in vehicle warfare. They are great at both destroying enemy hardware and repairing allies’ machines. They’re essential in matches with heavy tank or aircraft presence.

The engineer is a lot like you’d expect. Here is a brief overview of the Engineer Class:

  • Signature Gadget: Repair Tool – A blowtorch that is used to fix friendly vehicles or damage enemy ones. It has infinite uses, but it can overheat as well.
  • Signature Weapon Proficiency: SMGs – Better hip-fire control.
  • Trait: Flak Jacket – Reduces damage from explosives.
  • Active Ability: Overloaded Repair Tool – Temporarily boosts repair speed.

Like other classes, you can train your class down a few paths. Here are the training paths for engineers:

  1. Combat Engineer
    • Automatically spot nearby mines.
    • Slower overheating for vehicle tools.
    • Vehicles you occupy can exceed usual health thresholds.
  2. Anti-Armor
    • Carry more rocket ammo.
    • Faster rocket launcher reloads.
    • Vehicles you damage are harder to repair.

They are exceptionally strong in maps with vehicles. Engineers can heavily impact the match by taking out enemy tanks or keeping your team’s armor running longer.

Support Class

As the name suggests, Support plays a defensive and utility role in Battlefield 6. They act as a medic and an ammunition supplier. They help the team sustain its momentum by keeping everyone supplied and in the fight. Here is a brief overview of the Support Class:

  • Signature Gadget: Supply Bag – Resupplies nearby allies with ammo and enhances passive health regeneration.
  • Signature Weapon Proficiency: Light Machine Guns – No sprint penalty while using LMGs.
  • Trait: Quick Revive – Faster revive and drag speed.
  • Active Ability: Active Medic – Turns you into a mobile supply source and improves revive speed temporarily.

The Support class is like the armor and weapon crafter in other games. You can work your Support class down a few training paths:

  1. Fire Support
    • Teammates can resupply from you.
    • Better weapon control while mounted.
    • Mortars and airburst launchers gain extra ammo and speed.
  2. Combat Medic
    • Allies can self-heal by interacting with you.
    • You regain health while reviving.
    • Defensive gadgets recharge faster and work better.

Support is all about holding the line and keeping others alive. They’re best used to maintain momentum in close team fights and objective control.

Recon Class

Recon players are scouts and snipers who excel at spotting enemies, disabling traps, and taking out threats from a distance. Their toolkit allows them to gather intel and take down flanking enemies.

Recon is probably going to be a favorite for many players. Here is a brief overview of the Recon Class:

  • Signature Gadget: Motion Sensor – Detects nearby enemy movement and displays it on the minimap.
  • Signature Weapon Proficiency: Sniper Rifles – Can stabilize aim by holding breath and rechamber shots faster.
  • Trait: Auto-Spot – Marks enemies when aiming down sights.
  • Active Ability: UAV Call-In – Temporarily reveals enemies in a targeted area.

Fortunately, there are two paths you can take for your Recon class. Here are the training paths you can pick from:

  1. Sniper
    • Improved spotting duration and range.
    • Chest shots slow enemy healing.
    • Headshots prevent revives.
  2. Pathfinder
    • Enemies you damage are automatically spotted.
    • Silent movement and suppressed kills.
    • Hidden from sensors unless sprinting.

Best suited for players who prefer a stealthy, supportive approach. Recon thrives in large maps where distance and visibility are key advantages.

You can select your class at the start of each match in Battlefield 6, after dying, or shortly after spawning. Just press the on-screen prompt to switch. You can also tweak your loadout during these windows, but it’s recommended to make major changes between matches to avoid falling behind during combat.
