Beast of Reincarnation features many tough bosses that put all of your skills to the test, with many phases to change your game plan, or you will have a very bad time dealing with them. Just like the Rangifer in the first chapter, the second chapter puts us against the Lacerta, a swamp monster that loves nothing but to dive into the water to deal heavy damage.
Here we will provide a proper guide on how to deal with the Lacerta boss, with information about its weakness, level, weapon, charm, armor, and other helpful information to make the boss fight a bit easier to confront.
Lacerta Boss Overview
- Phases: Two (Attacks from the First Phase do Carry over to the Second Phase)
- Weakness: Lightning
- Level: 13, 16
- Encounter Chapters: Chapter 2
- First Fight – Lv.13, Kanto Area – Ancient Civilization Zone
- Second Fight – Lv. 16
- Rewards: Lacertine Memories and Nushi Skill: Dokuzeri Shower for the first encounter, and Bloom Art: Dokuzeri: Fang/ Blade Art: Dokuzeri/ and Trophy Lacerta’s End for the second encounter.
Battle Preparations
- Weapon – Thunderwave Sword (Melee 51/ Tempest passive – Slashing with this sword casts down lightning strikes on enemies nearby, Max +6)
- Armor: Thick Cuirass (29 Defense/ Poison Resistances set to 60/ 4 Spirit Stone Slots)
Tip: To fill up the Slots on the Armor, add the Spirit Stone that offers Fortitude and Vigor. Fortitude comes from Fortification and Vigor from Onslaught. They will help you immensely, enhancing the combat against this swamp boss.
- Charms:
- Higanbana: Seeds Lv. 1
- Higanbana: Bloom Lv. 2 (End of the Line Mod)
- Higanbana: Roots Lv. 1 (Rapid Cooling Mod)
- Item and Skill: Recovery Tonic/ Emergency Medicine and Sakura: Javelin Lv. 2.
Make sure to get the armor, as it provides a good 60 poison resistance, which you will need to survive the attacks from this boss. The sword also offers Lightning, a perfect weapon against Lacerta. But above all, carry lightning bolts and arrows, as most of the battle is ranged-focused; we will be doing a lot of ranged attacks to deal damage and at the same time keep ourselves safe from harm.
All Lacerta Attacks in First Phase
The attacks in the first phase are limited, but they are deadly, and the boss is very mobile at times, always when least expected. The attacks may feel slow, but the mobility of the boss and the damage can be deadly.
AOE Spawns

While you will be battling Lacerta on the water, eventually you will see an attack that covers the area around Lacerta with nothing but pure bubbly mud. Suffice it to say, you don’t want to be in the mud. When that happens, the mud is an indicator of something worse coming. Quickly, Lacerta will spawn shell-like dark objects from the ground, covering most of the area.
The best advice is to maintain distance and use ranged weapons to deal damage; don’t stay close, or you will take a hit. Ranged weapons are perfect, especially with Lightning projectiles. Another indicator for this attack is that the eyes of Lacerta will glow red; use it to predict the moves to put yourself at a safe distance.
Rush Dive
Lacerta will dive into the water and quickly charge at your location with an open mouth. Since it has a big mouth, you need to dodge a bit far away to survive; the timing here will be crucial. You will need to move the second Lacerta dives into the water, but once the boss gets in close, dodging becomes impossible.
Lacerta will perform the same diving animation once it gets close to your character. The beast will dive away from your location to get to a distant spot in the arena. A perfect time to deliver range attacks. Do remember that when the boss is diving down near your character, it will deal damage, so be ready to parry.
Bites

Lacerta will lunge its head forward with its mouth open to bite your character; either move to the side or jump into the air. As all the bites happen near the ground, the boss doesn’t move its head up to bite you in the air. Once you bring down its HP to 40% or less, the skin on the back of Lacerta will start glowing red instead of yellow. Here, the Lacerta’s common bite attack follows up with a 360-degree tail spin at the end.
If you are parrying the lunges, just be careful, as the tail spin move shows up near the end and will likely catch you by surprise. This is one of the best Lacerta attacks for us, as it gives us more than an ample amount of time to deliver heavy melee damage.
Tip: I recommend parrying this move to conserve ammo for the second round, where it can go a bit wild.
All Lacerta Attacks in Second Phase
The Second Phase has most of the attacks from the first phase but with a few brand new attacks. However, I recommend sticking to the same plan. Here, you must use all the ammo for the bow and crossbow at the perfect time to deliver the most amount of damage.
Toxic Projectiles

Lacerta will throw round projectiles in a straight direction; just simply move out of the way and use range attack to fight back. To perform the dark projectile attack, Lacerta will always try to move away from your location and get to a distant spot to perform this attack. So whenever you see Lacerta far away or running away from you, you can count on this attack coming, so you can plan your move.
Purple Smoke

Another move Lacerta does is when it blows purple smoke all out of its body; here, rely on your ranged attack to stun the beast in the process. You will see the beast perform this attack halfway through the battle and at the start of the second phase.
Most of Lacerta’s attacks during the second phase are an imitation of its attack list from the first phase, but everything is faster. Hence, the window to deliver melee strikes is extremely small, which is why you are better off relying on ranged attacks. You will be dealing with a lot of the same maneuvers; using the same technique from the first phase will work well with the second phase of Lacerta. Make sure to dodge and rely on the ranged attack; only resort to melee once the boss gets too close to your character. If you are not good at parrying, then wait for the tail sweep attack, then land melee damage.
Tips for Lacerta
- Although there are times you can rely on your melee strikes, most of the time you should be focused on the ranged weapon. There are many times the Lacerta will swim up to distance and start rushing at you. I would advise you to put more emphasis on using the bow or crossbow to deal heavy damage.
- I will also recommend adding Antidote with Koo to take care of poison treatment.
- If you are planning to deal heavy damage with your sword, then use Entanglement Overdrive after the biting and tail sweep attack; here you will have a perfect three to four second window to cause a devastating amount of damage before it slips over.
Note: In the second phase, the tail sweep and the bites are faster and deadlier. If you are not confident in your parry ability, don’t try to do it.
- When Lacerta spreads mud in the area, you can jump in the air to avoid the attack. If you are too close to the boss, jump into the air to stay safe.
- Don’t rely on ranged attacks in the first phase; instead, rely on melee strikes, then go all out in the second phase.
- All bites are parriable, a perfect time to slow down the time to deal more damage.
