When you are playing as Michael Myers in Halloween: The Game, early on, you might struggle to learn the ropes for Michael Myers; learning when to use certain skills, and building up other stats. However, if you stick with him, your patience will get rewarded as you eventually become the ultimate apex predator in the field, capable of tracking your victims and tear them apart.

Michael Myers Stats
Before I delve into the bells and whistles of Michael Myers gameplay, let’s go over the traits and special abilities. This will catch you up on the bare basics of the character and what you will be doing most of the time.
Traits:
- Shape Jump: Lets you in and out of shadows without getting caught or detected. Also gives you access to shape dash and visual tracking aids.
- Killer Sense: Enter the mask in first person to stalk victims; allows for precision and scanning for noise pings in the environment.
Special Abilities:
- Evil Presence: Cast an evil aura around you; hinders anyone who is in the zone; it also gives a boost to Michel.
- Detection Pulse: Sends out a pulse of energy marking victims and occupied structures.
- Blackout: Temporarily disables power.
Playing as Michael Myers in Halloween: The Game
Here I will run down the basics of Michael’s gameplay to help you get ahead of the victims in a match. Once the match begins, you will see the list of all targets or victims in the top-left of the screen. These are the targets we must take down quickly.
- Movement: Use the Shape Jump ability to move around the map easily. What makes this move amazing is that when you perform it at the beginning of the match, you will have a shorter cooldown compared to later on. We have the movement; now we need to know where to go. Look at the sky, and you will see a giant golden light surrounded by dark, ominous clouds. The golden light is an indicator of the victim or target locations. When you enter the Shape Jump ability, rush towards the golden light area by looking at the sky.
Tip: If a player is moving fast on a bicycle to run you over, perform a blackout to knock off the bicycle for a kill. You also have the option to throw a weapon or grab to knock the target off the bicycle.
- Stalking: Once you are in the area and have found a target, the last thing you want to do is rush at the victim for a kill. No, instead, stalk your victim as Michael does in the movies; it’s not only for the show, stalking improves a lot of gameplay stats. Stalking your victim raises your bloodthirst meter, nets you more XP, improves your grab, and also opens environmental kills.
Note: You will see your bloodthirst meter on the top-right side of the screen; focus on improving it first before going for a kill.
- Don’t Kill Everyone: Your goal is to kill the special target; you will see them appear in a golden circle in your Shape Jump ability. These are the ones you should take out before fixing your eyes on the rest. I recommend getting Bloodthirst Tier 3 and Stalk Tier 3, which takes a bit of time to get to that level. Once you hit Tier 3 on both of them, you can start chasing the target, get behind them, and you can easily perform Reality Tear to perform the finisher on the victims.
- Breaking Doors Quickly: When the target has all the doors locked, resort to punching the door to break them instead of relying on heavy strikes. Punching the door actually breaks the door faster than landing heavy strikes with any one-handed weapon. The entire breaking pattern changes if you do have a two-handed weapon, which breaks the door faster. I recommend getting your hands on a two-handed axe, and most doors will break like a piece of biscuit.
- Destroy Phone Lines and Power Boxes: Don’t just deactivate the power boxes and phone lines; destroy them completely. Cutting the phone lines will stop the players from calling the cops, for a time. You can also hit the power boxes with your weapon to destroy them. However, do note, it’s all temporary; players can use a repair kit to perform repairs on the broken electrical panels – both power boxes and phone lines.
- One-Handed Weapon vs. Two-Handed Weapon: With a one-handed weapon, you get faster strikes; two-handed weapons are slower. If you are new to the game, one-handed is a preferred method of killing, as you will be able to perform more strikes per minute. That is not to say two-handed is completely useless, but it takes time to master the swings and when to hit.
Tip: You can throw your weapon at a distance and it will easily knock down the victim or target right on the ground. You can already imagine a two-handed weapon throw at an unaware target and the sheer amount of damage it will deal. Do note that hitting Bloodthirst Tier 3 also makes your throwing weapon an instant kill.
- Performing the Grab: Once you grab a target, perform the weapon execution shown at the bottom of the HUD to perform the kill, or the target will escape. A simple grab will not do anything, as the victims or targets will always escape.
The best tip is to go through the single-player, as it acts as a tutorial for the multiplayer. You will learn most of the mechanics right away.
