Ghost of Yotei now has an expanded storyline that will lead you to newer locations as part of the DLC. To trigger the new areas, you first need to pick up a particular bounty that will reveal the location of a familiar face. As you set off to fulfil the requirements of the bounty, you will be led to Ashoro Foothills.
If you can’t find Ashoro Foothills or the related bounty associated with it, then you need to backtrack to some of the game’s previous questlines and ensure you have completed them first. For an easier time, all the necessary information regarding unlocking the new region and the related bounty quest will be detailed here.
How to Start Ghost of Yotei DLC
You start the DLC by picking up the bounty for Nagato the Handsome, which leads you to Ashoro Foothills; the region where the Echoes of Sekigahara DLC is based. But for this to happen, you must first complete the following four main story quests:
- The Old Inn
- The Way of Dual Katana
- The Tale of the Oni
- The Kitsune’s Fate
In case you had started a NG+, then preload your last save to return to the main storyline if you haven’t completed these quests. But if you are starting from scratch, then I would suggest ignoring all the side quests and collectibles while focusing on these particular main story quests and completing them to unlock the DLC quickly. Along the way, you also need to work on unlocking the Bounty Board quests.
After that, you can either select the Bounty Board from the Destination menu to go there directly, or make your way to the bounty broker, Kojiro. There are several locations to find him, such as Huranui’s Rest Inn, Ishakari Market, and Red Crane Inn. Interact with the bounty board and look for one particular bounty called Nagato the Handsome. Pick up the quest and check your map to find a new path leading you east towards Ashoro Foothills.
Finding the Doorway into Ashoro Foothills
The next part isn’t particularly hard, as once you get tipped off about Nagato’s location in Ashoro Foothills, you can quickly set a path there. Get on your horse and cross the swamp until you reach a dead end. You will find some enemies patrolling the area here; take them out, then look around for a wooden doorway. You can’t miss it, as it is right next to some lit torches. Use your grapple hook to latch on to the doorway and follow the on-screen prompts to fling open the door.
The rest of the path towards your objective is pretty straightforward, so you won’t have a lot of trouble finding the way forward for the bounty quest in the Ghost of Yotei DLC.
