Door Codes, Safe Combos, and Keys in Cronos: The New Dawn are some of the most important things to keep track of while you’re exploring. From the very first locked door in the apartment complex to the clearance gates inside the Steelworks, every code and key you pick up pushes the story forward.
Some are easy to spot, while others are hidden behind enemies, burned biomass, or notes tucked into dark corners. Instead of being optional collectibles, most of these items are directly tied to progress and and even affect the different endings in the game. Missing one means getting stuck in a dead end until you backtrack.
All Cronos: The New Dawn Door Codes, Safe Combos, and Keys

All Cronos: The New Dawn Door Codes, Safe Combos, and Keys are designed to keep players alert, making exploration just as important as combat. Every code scribbled on a note or key dropped by a cat ties back into progression, so keeping track of them ensures you’ll never be stuck second-guessing where to head next.
Old Key
The first locked door you’ll hit is right at the start of the apartment complex. The Old Key to open it isn’t far away—just step into the room left of the door after spotting the Dangerous Games note. It’s your introduction to how Cronos loves to tuck keys just out of sight.
Storeroom Code – 3-6-7
You’ll need this combo to pop open the storeroom. The clue comes from the Heading Forward Travelog in the next room, so if you’re paying attention, you won’t miss it.
Shop Key
This one is unmissable. Following the main path after hearing the Strategic Advice Travelog, you’ll grab the Shop Key automatically.
Traveler’s Seal Key (Predecessor path)
Once you pick up your first Torch Fuel, use it to burn away the black biomass nearby. Behind it is a side room containing the first Traveler’s Seal Key. It opens the circular lock in the room you just came from.
Hardware Store Key
Head into the Sector D-3 Housing Project and climb the stairs—since the elevator is busted, that’s your only option. Push the locker blocking your way into apartment #29, clear the enemies, and the Hardware Store Key will be yours.
Traveler’s Seal Key (Safe Room)
After picking up the Bolt Cutters, return to the chained door across from the Sector D-3 apartments. Inside you’ll find a cat; follow it to the safe room. The cat drops the second Traveler’s Seal Key, which opens the circular lock there.
Apartment Safe Combination – 8-1-1
Inside Edward Wisniewski’s apartment is a safe. The combo, 811, is written on a photo of Angela’s Birthday Party nearby. Keep an eye out for it before fumbling with the dial.
Shelter Key
From Edward’s shelter, take the right-hand apartment complex path. Follow the cat again until it leads you into the basement. Defeat the Orphans in unit 94 to claim the Shelter Key.
Steelworks Hall B Clearance Code – 3-6-4
To get past Hall B, you’ll need this code. Enter the loading bay to the right of the locked door, then slip into the “military personnel only” area. Upstairs in the office, a note reveals the 364 combo.
Steelworks Master Key
Once you step into Hall B, you’ll notice Orphans that seem passive at first. Move past them, climb the stairs, and locate the safe room. Inside, the Steelworks Master Key is waiting.
Steelworks Isolation Zone Clearance Code – 7-2-9
Two massive Orphans guard the shortcut back to the Steelworks entrance. After beating them, use the Master Key to open the door behind them. Inside, you’ll find a note with the 729 code.
How to Open the First Locked Door in Cronos The New Dawn

Early on, Cronos throws you into a corridor with two locked doors right after the melee tutorial. The one you need to pass sits at the end. The key is close by, and you slip left into the bedroom, crawl through the gap in the wall, and grab it from the other side. This not only unlocks your way forward but also lets you open the shortcut door leading back to the corridor.
That first moment sets the tone for the rest of the story of the game: every locked door has a key, code, or combo nearby, but you’ll need actually to slow down and search for it. Cronos The New Dawn doesn’t hand anything over without a little effort.
