PlayStation Showcase 2023 was an unexpected revelation of games that truly deserve our hype and attention. We witnessed announcements across all the genres – RPGs, Action, Adventure, Puzzle, and some PSVR2 titles that were simply mind-boggling.

In case you missed the show, here’s a compilation of all the reveals to get you up to speed with the upcoming PS5 and PSVR2 titles.

PlayStation Showcase 2023 roundup: Trailers revealed for all the upcoming PS5 games

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Undoubtedly the biggest reveal of the Showcase – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s detailed gameplay had us in awe of astonishing new abilities. Given Peter’s exposure to Venom and Miles’ new combat moves, you can play as a Symbiote, allowing him to glide through the city. Exclusively for the PlayStation 5, Insomniac Games worked with Marvel Games and PlayStation to make this happen. We can’t wait to witness more details in the coming months.

 Fairgame$

From Haven Studios, the sandbox-PvP competitive heist experience is coming to PS5 and PC. We don’t have any more details at the moment. The game seems to be designed around co-op Payday-esque heists with a lot of style and a cyberpunk touch.

Immortals of Aveum

An EA Original, Immortals of Aveum showed off some lovely first-person graphics with magic and fantasy elements. Terrifying mythical creatures and magical creations, like the Brutes, were shown in the trailer.

Helldivers II

Helldivers 2 is a third-person squad-based shooter from Arrowhead with a Fallout-style sense of humor, asking you to hack n’ slash through swarms of enemies. It’s coming this year to PC and PS5.

Ghostrunner 2

Another cybperpunk-esque game, this free-runner came in with surprises – from the looks of it: improved gameplay and a motorcycle. 505 Games certainly has hyped this one for us.

Phantom Blade Zero

Phantom Blade Zero had some of the best gameplay to show us. The game seems to blend Sekiro and Ghost of Tsushima’s combat with a dark theme we’re familiar with from SoulsLike worlds.

Sword of the Sea

The pioneers of Journey and Abzu have a treat for us. And, from the looks of it, the game has a captivating journey awaiting us. The artstyle and narrative development from the trailer alone has us excited.

The Talos Principle II

Croteam and Devolver Digital unveiled the eagerly expected follow-up to 2014’s philosophical puzzler. Later this year, the game (which will considerably improve upon the well-liked original) will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It is the most extensive, weirdest world Croteam has ever built.

Neva

Neva is a story about a young woman and her unremitting relationship with a majestic wolf as they set out on an exhilarating journey across a dying world. From the GRIS developers at Nomada Studio and Devolver Digital, the game comes out on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC in 2024.

Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean

The cat adventure is coming to the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Switch. In this 2.5D open-world action RPG, you take on the role of a daring pirate/kitty. The archipelago is overrun by Pi-rats looking for the Northern Star, a long-lost mythological treasure set in a fantasy, pirate-themed universe.

Foamstars

With a heavy influence from the likes of Splatoon, Square Enix is bringing us a brand-new 4v4 online party shooter. The game will be available on PS4 and PS5.

The Plucky Squire

Imagine moving seamlessly between the 2D pages of a storybook and the 3D world of reality in The Plucky Squire. Devolver Digital will release this adorable title for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Teardown

The PS5 port brings you a Lego-like environment full of destructible parts. You can finally step on a Lego, and it won’t hurt. This virtual, chaotic voxel world brings out ideal heist scenarios.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake)

Once again, get to know the legendary military agent Snake and start to piece together the legend of the Metal Gear series in this MGS3 Remake. Arriving on PS5, the first three original games from the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, Volume 1, will be released this Autumn.

Towers of Aghasba

From the gameplay, it seems like we’ll get to explore various ecosystems and build our own civilization. The open world certainly looks expansive and elaborate.

Final Fantasy 16

The trailer showcases essential traits of a classic Final Fantasy trailer: significant and passionate. It’s comforting to know that the game’s epic breadth and blockbuster heart still exist, even if it does somewhat depart from that traditional FF formula.

Alan Wake 2

The much-awaited sequel to the hit psychological thriller caught us off-guard. The gameplay manages to keep a strong balance between part of the game’s story, horrifying environments, and solid suspense. Alan Wake 2 comes out on PS5 on October 17, 2023.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

After much waiting, we finally got to see the gameplay of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Early speculations were right – the game is returning to its roots with stealth-based gameplay and a refined parkour system. The game comes out on October 12, 2023.

Revenant Hill

Developed by the team behind the fantastic Night in the Woods, this 1919-based game follows the journey of a fascinating cat – Twigs. Revenant Hill is being developed for PS5 and PS4.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink

Coming to PS5 this winter, the game is set in The Sky Realm, where numerous islands float in a vast body of blue water. The protagonist sets off for Estalucia, a mythical island beyond the heavens, with the help of an aggressive little dragon named Vyrn and a young girl with enigmatic powers named Lyria.

Street Fighter 6

Known for its over-the-top visuals and lighthearted dealings, Street Fighter is receiving its next title on June 2, 2023, on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

Ultros

Building on the likes of Dead Cells and similar roguelike RPG games, Ultros is a bright, exciting new title coming to PS5, PS4 and Microsoft Windows in 2024.

Tower of Fantasy

The game looks like an engaging open-world cyberpunk RPG. The exploration and adventure game, available this summer on PS5 and PS4, offers a customizable real-time fighting system with over 30 different types of weapons.

Dragon’s Dogma 2

Capcom is bringing us a sequel to the well-known action RPG due to its highly-polished action and fighting and a unique gameplay system. It gave the player the impression that others were following them through pawns: enigmatic, otherworldly beings. Dragon’s Dogma 2 elevates these components even further to create a genuinely immersive fantasy environment for your next adventure. The game is in development for PS5.

Five Nights at Freddy’s Help Wanted 2

Five Nights at Freddy’s Help Wanted 2 for the PSVR2 was unveiled at the PlayStation Showcase. The game’s teaser makes it clear that the Sister Location DLC is coming. Fans of FNAF appear to be in for a good year in 2023.

Marathon

An eccentric aesthetic and unique gameplay elements made Marathon’s trailer stand out. It is a brand-new sci-fi PvP extraction shooter from the makers of Halo and Destiny. The game is coming to Xbox Series X, PC, and PS5.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

On August 22, a special showcase will reveal Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the conclusion to the 10-year Light and Darkness saga in the MMO. And, it appears that Cayde-6 has returned. Tears, laughs, heartbreaks…are we truly ready for the epic conclusion?

Concord

This one’s a new release from Firewalk Studios. The sci-fi universe-themed PvP multiplayer first-person shooter will launch in 2024 for PS5 and PC. More information will be available soon before the game is released next year.

Upcoming PSVR2 games announced at the 2023 PS Showcase

Resident Evil 4: VR Mode

The trailer showed us Leon S. Kennedy fighting through hordes of the undead at a familiar location. Only this time, you play from a different perspective and fresher take on combat. The title will arrive as a free DLC for the PlayStation 5 game version.

Arizona Sunshine 2

Experience the excitement of realistic battle as you use brand-new and fan-favorite weaponry, including shotguns, machetes, and flamethrowers, in a post-apocalyptic world where every bullet counts. Coming to PSVR 2.

Crossfire: Sierra Squad

Get ready to be the commander of an elite fireteam of the paramilitary organization Global Risk. Sierra Squad is the name of your elite fireteam, which has received extensive training. Start off in the shooting range to get comfortable with the game’s 39 weapons and cause some destruction in the process!

Synapse

The new mind-bending game lets you play into someone else’s subconscious, with a lot of action elements and puzzle-solving. The next generation of immersive VR action is now available from the award-winning developers of Fracked, Phantom: Covert Ops, and Far Cry VR: Dive into Insanity.

Unleash your inner anti-hero with deadly weapons in one hand and expressive telekinetic skills in the other. The game is coming to PSVR 2 on July 4, 2023.

Beat Saber

On the PlayStation VR2, Beat Sabre is now accessible alongside a Queen Music Pack with 11 great tracks from the illustrious band. Get ready to step back into one of the best rhythm-based experiences for VR platforms.

Sony also announced Project Q Remote Handheld & PlayStation Earbuds at the PS Showcase

Sony introduced us to their latest hardware – Project Q – a device for playing games installed on your PS5 and streaming over WiFi. Our first look at the official wireless earbuds that enable lossless audio on PS5 and PC were unveiled at today’s Showcase. The upcoming months will bring more information.
