The saga of Light and Darkness in Destiny 2 Lightfall came to a shocking revelation that left many players with a big question – is The Traveler dead? This comes after winning the final boss fight and assuming Guardians will come out on top. But instead, The Witness manages to pull off his plan to take The Traveler.

Is The Traveler Dead In Destiny 2 Lightfall?
The Traveler is gone, but not dead (at least not confirmed to be dead). At the end of Destiny 2 Lightfall, the Witness creates a link between The Traveler and The Veil by controlling the player’s Ghost. This results in a portal that allows the Witness to teleport himself and The Traveler to an unknown location.
This would mean that the Light no longer exists, but somehow our Ghosts still work, and they can still bring us back to life whenever we die. I agree that this is confusing and has not been explained properly. But this is also why it is believed that The Traveler is indeed alive and still providing the Light from somewhere out there.
Zavala does mention the fact that the enemies will not benefit from the Light anymore and that’s a good thing, but he is devastated by not having a God he can put his trust in.

We have yet to see what happens as the questions will likely be answered in Destiny 2’s last and final expansion – The Final Shape. This expansion was originally set to come out on 27th Feb but was later delayed to 4th June.
