How To Farm XP Fast In Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 brings back the classic loot and shoot experience with new ways to level up your Vault Hunter. Getting to different levels opens up better gear, stronger skills, and access to the toughest content in the game.

Leveling fast means you can tackle harder difficulties sooner and get your hands on legendary weapons that scale with your level. The endgame content requires a maxed character to be truly effective.

You can use several effective XP farming methods depending on your campaign progress and available content, like Patrol Contracts or Vault Hunter Mode in Borderlands 4. You can choose between early game techniques that work from the start or advanced endgame strategies that require completing the main story. Both approaches significantly boost leveling speed compared to normal gameplay.

Early Game XP Farming in Borderlands 4

If you are starting Borderlands 4 from scratch, the most effective early game XP method combines main story progression with strategic boss farming using Moxxi’s Big Encore system. This method can help you reach level 40 during the campaign instead of the usual level 25 to 30.

Patrol Contracts offer the best XP to time spent ratio among all content Borderlands 4 has to offer in the Early Game. Patrol Contracts are jobs that ask you to kill a certain number of specific enemy types. You can find these contracts at most early game Safehouses on the Contract Boards. The good news is that most enemies you need to kill for Patrols are already in areas you will visit during main story missions.

The second important part is farming early story bosses like Splashzone using Moxxi’s Big Encore Machine. Splashzone is one of the first bosses you fight in the campaign in the Fadefields area around level 4 or 5. You can farm this boss right after you beat him the first time, and he gets stronger as you level up, making him useful for your whole leveling trip.

It costs more money to use the Machine as you level up (about 2.33% more each level), but the XP and gear you get also get better. Splashzone is an easy boss to farm for XP and loot compared to other bosses. When you take multiple Patrol Contracts from Safehouses and finish them naturally while doing the story, this method gives you steady XP gains without making you go off track from the main campaign.

Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode XP Farm in Borderlands 4

If you don’t mind beating the game first, the absolute fastest way to farm XP in Borderlands 4 is through Vile Bounties in Carcadia Burn using the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse. This method can give you up to 300,000 XP per hour when done correctly.

You need to finish the main campaign first and unlock Ultimate Vault Hunter mode. This mode gives a 10% XP boost, better loot drops, 20% more cash and Eridium, but also makes enemies 150% stronger and increases damage taken by 12%. The extra challenge is worth it for the improved rewards.

How to Unlock Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode in Borderlands 4

After beating the campaign, you must complete several tasks to unlock Ultimate Vault Hunter Rank 1. The game guides players through a Wildcard Mission, using Moxxi’s Big Encore system, finding Maurice’s Black Market, and doing a Firmware Transfer. These activities teach the new endgame systems while preparing players for harder content.

Ultimate Vault Hunter mode has five ranks total. Each rank requires completing specific challenges and boss fights to advance. Players can turn this mode on and off anytime from the pause menu, making it flexible for different play styles.

How to Set Up the Vile Bounty Farm in Borderlands 4

Fast travel to the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse in Carcadia Burn. This location is perfect because the bounty board sits right next to the spawn point. Players waste no time running around the map between contracts.

Look for Vile Bounties on the board, marked in purple color. These contracts spawn crystal-covered elite enemies that give huge XP rewards. If no Vile Bounties appear, grab regular kill bounties marked in blue as backup options.

Best Strategy for Borderlands 4 Bounty Farming

Vile enemies have crystals growing on their bodies that act like shields. Break these crystals first to remove their protection, then finish the target. These elites drop reward chests that often contain legendary gear along with massive XP payouts.

After killing the bounty target, fast travel back to the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse. Save the game, quit to the main menu, and reload. This refreshes the bounty board with new contracts. Lucky players can sometimes get multiple Vile Bounties in one refresh.

Group XP Farming in Borderlands 4

Teams can use an even faster method by splitting up across different Ripper Drill Sites around Kairos. Each site works like a wave arena with a boss fight at the end. After clearing a site, players can use the nearby Encore machine to replay it instantly.

Since kill XP gets shared across the party, having multiple players farming different Drill Sites at the same time speeds up progression for everyone. This method keeps the action constant with no downtime between fights.

Best Builds for Borderlands 4 XP Farming

This farming method works best with strong crowd control or burst damage builds. The Amon class with Forgeknight specialization excels here because cryo setups can freeze enemies and shatter Vile Crystals quickly. Any loadout that melts elite enemies or clears waves fast will maximize XP per hour.

You should focus on weapons and skills that deal with groups of enemies efficiently. Single-target damage works for bosses, but area damage helps clear the path to bounty targets faster. Also, managing your inventory properly becomes crucial during long farming sessions, so knowing how to drop unwanted items keeps your backpack organized.

This XP farming method beats other options because it removes all downtime. Vile Bounties spawn close to the Safehouse, the save and quit loop ensures access to the best contracts, and Ultimate Vault Hunter mode boosts all XP gains. For players looking to boost their farming even further, using SHiFT codes can provide Golden Keys and bonus gear that make clearing bounties faster. If you master this technique, you can reach max level and start the real endgame loot hunt much faster than traditional grinding methods in Borderlands 4.
