Within the very depths of the City of Krat lies an undiscovered area unexplored by many players in Lies of P. This area called the Hermit’s Cave is located near the Barren Swamp Bridge and it is a special unlockable point of interest. From collecting Cryptic Vessels to conversing with a few different NPCs in the game, there are a handful of tasks required to unlock this cave.
If you are also looking for Hermit’s Cave and having a hard time figuring out each task to unlock it, here are all the details you need to get the job done.
Hermit’s Cave Location
The Hermit Cave is located in the Barren Swamp near the Barren Swamp Bridge. The cave entrance will be blocked off by a metal gate which you need to open by speaking to Venigni and handing him a Rusty Cryptic Vessel.
What’s in the Hermit’s Cave?
The Hermit’s Cave is a huge cave structure containing ramps and ladders for ease of access. Each little corner of this giant cave system is filled with different enemies that drop Ergos and other collectibles like diary notes and Quartz.
You will also find some special enemies guarding locked chest and vault lockers which can contain the Black Steel Cutter blade and handle, the Attribute Resistance Ampoule amulet, a crescent moonstone, the Black Cat’s Hunting apparel, and even more Quartz.
Other than that, the area also contains the Hermit’s Cave Foggy Dawn Stargazer which can be unlocked for your respawn and fast travel purposes.
How to Unlock Hermit’s Cave in Lies of P?
To unlock the cave you need to attempt the following steps:
1. Get the Cryptic Vessel from Hugo
Rookie Explorer Hugo, who can be found standing in front of the locked gate of the Hermit’s Cave near Barren Swamp Bridge has a Cryptic Vessel which you need to acquire for Venigni’s research. Just have a conversation with Hugo till a dialogue pops up about the Cryptic Vessel and obtain the item from him.
2. Give Venigni the Cryptic Vessel
Now, you need you give the cryptic vessel to Venigni who will probably be in Hotel Krat if you have already finished his rescue mission.
3. Find the Special Krat Supply Box for Polendina’s Shop
The next step to unlock Hermit’s Cave is to find the Special Krat Supply Box in Collapsed Street. This box can be found next to a building in Collapsed Street which has a bunch of swordsmen. If you locate a puppet spitting out fire, just sneak past him to find the supply box.
Taking the supply box back to Polendina will increase the number of items for sale in his store. Now he will sell the special Rusty Cryptic Vessel needed for this mission.
4. Buy the Rusty Cryptic Vessel and Give it to Venigni
You need to buy the Rusty Cryptic Vessel from Polendina for 1000 Ergo and then hand it over to Venigni for him to decode a special message inscribed inside the vessel. Venigni will give you a Rusty Cryptic Vessel Decryption where the orders are to “Find the cave blocked off by metal bars in the Barren Swamp. There is a reward at the end of the new road.”
Now you can take the decryption to the cave and explore the new area.
5. Head to the unlocked Hermit’s Cave
Once you reach Barren Swamp Bridge you will find the cave already open. All you have to do now is head inside and loot the area. Also, make sure to check for enemies before attempting to loot anything in the cave.
