The Toma & Murphy quest revolves around the Lies of P whistle which is locked behind a difficult boss fight. But contrary to simple fetch quests, Lies of P does something wonderful here.
Heartfelt is the last word that comes to mind when describing the Soulsborne games or the genre in general. But Neowiz’s latest Soulslike somehow stands out as a brilliant exception with some melancholic side quests that will melt your heart. The Toma & Murphy quest is one such example where the game excels at storytelling and the events that unfold are like something out of an O. Henry story.
Lies of P Whistle: Where to find the Faded Whistle in Toma & Murphy quest?
Acquiring the whistle is no easy task. You’ll have to first deal with the Scrapped Watchman who is a very dangerous foe early game. He can be found creeping around Krat City Hall guarding it from the likes of trespassers like Pinocchio. Once you have defeated the Scrapped Watchman, you can acquire the whistle from a bench near the entrance to the city hall.
Lies of P Whistle: How to Start the Toma & Murphy Quest
This quest is quite a tricky one to find. It isn’t as obvious as other sidequests in Lies of P and you’ll need to do some exploring. As you explore Elysion Boulevard, you’ll enter the ‘Inside the House of Elysion Boulevard’ location. From the house, you can head to the rooftop and take the staircase to the right. As you head down the stairs and onto the street, you can find a lit window. As you approach it you can hear coughing. As you approach the sound cue, you can hear the voice of a little boy who asks if you are Murphy.
Upon further interacting with the voice, you’ll uncover that little Toma has been infected and that he wishes he could meet his good old friend: Officer Murphy. The character Toma is referring to is none other than the Scrapped Watchman. Clearly, Toma is one of the kids that Murphy was very fond of before he contracted the Petrification disease. You are now tasked with making the sick boy’s wish come true.

After you have acquired the Lies of P whistle from the Krat City Courtyard, you can head back to Toma and blow it for him. He will immediately take you for Officer Murphy and tell you that he’s glad you are there. Alternatively, if you have already acquired the whistle before speaking to Toma, you can approach the window and simply blow the whistle and get an immediate reaction from the boy who will recognize you as Officer Murphy and the conversation plays out pretty much the same way.
