While they can be amazing, you will not be able to see them until later on in the game. When you are just starting, it’s better to focus on the pals you get right away without grinding. This guide will focus on the best Pals that you must obtain early in Palworld 1.0.
Best Early Pals for Beginners
All the Pals mentioned in the article are obtainable early on; we are going to target the starter area, “Windswept Hills”. Here we break down Pals’ types by their purpose to give you a better impression of their usefulness for your game. To make things easier, I will put them into separate lists, so if you are looking for a travel pal or pals that can help you with the farming in the base, you will easily be able to find them early on in the game.

Best Early Pals for Multipurpose Jobs
Here we will take a look at the pals perfect for jobs for early sessions. Basically, our goal is to find pals that can do it all. These two pals are Lifmunk and Tanzee; here’s why they are a better choice for the game.
Lifmunk
The first pal we have on the list is Lifmunk. This cutesy little thing, besides carrying an SMG to shoot down enemies, is pretty versatile to work with early on in the game. It has Level 1 in Planting, Handiwork, Gathering, and Medicine Production. Don’t let the level 1 label put you down; when you are starting, you will always be constantly switching tasks to various; here we have a jack of all trades that will handle most tasks.
Two of the reasons why Lifmunk deserves to be on your team: one, that you can use this pal early on in the game; the second reason is the pal’s multipurpose job-related skills.

- Partner Skill: Lifmunk Recoil: Jumps onto the player’s head and uses an SMG to attack enemies,

Tanzee
Tanzee and Lifmunk are just two sides of the same coin, with a small difference in their Work Suitabilities skill, but the purpose of getting them stays the same. Tanzee is a slightly better version with its Transporting skill, but the reasons to acquire them stay the same. Tanzee is also an excellent pet for early sessions for its multipurpose work capabilities, just like Lifmunk.

Best Early Pals for Efficient Gliding
Now we will take a look at pals that help with gliding over the terrain more quickly. Do note, they are not meant to fly; these pals offer a significant boost to your gliding ability. Here we will cover Celaray and Hangyu to see why they are considered the best.
Note: Previously, you had to craft a glove to use them, but in the 1.0 patch, none of that is required; you can use them right away.
Hangyu
What makes Hangyu special compared to Celaray or any other glide-focused animal is that it’s the only one that ascends you to the top while gliding. The speed of ascending is a bit slow, but there are no other pals in the game that carry this special skill. Compared to gliding mechanics to Celaray, they are both early glide-focused pals; I recommend getting your hands on Hangyu after having fun with Celaray.

- Partner Skill: Flying Trapeze: enables slow ascension while gliding.
- Work Suitability: Handiwork Lv. 1/ Gathering Lv. 1/ Transporting Lv.2

Celaray
Celaray can be obtained right from the start without too much effort, while Hangyu is preferable, but you will need to be at Lv. 10 to grab it. Celaray, on the other hand, is extremely easy to catch without too much investment.

- Partner Skill: Zephyr Glider: Prevents fall damage and extends the duration of high-speed gliding.
- Work Suitability: Watering Lv.1/ Transporting Lv.1
- Possible Drops: Aquatic Pal Fluids
- Location: Celaray found in the western section of Windswept Hills; look near the coastal area.
Note: Celaray’s fall damage skill also applies to you at all times, even at times, when you are not gliding.
Therei also Killamari (Dark and Water), another excellent pal that helps you extend your flight duration for a long time.
Best Early Pals for Traversal
Now that we covered gliding, how about running on the ground and water? Here we are going to cover the best pals for traversal on ground and water.
Direhowl
Exploring becomes tiresome with slow speed; we need speed quickly. Our goal is to cover as much ground as possible with impeccable speed. Here, Direhowl is the best choice; many tier lists have put Direhowl under the A rank for being fastest amongst most pals in-game. It has a speed of 800 to 1050, which is not a joke; a perfect choice for the starting area. Since the starter area is already small, you can expect to get around from one point to another very quickly.
Stat and Location Details:
- Type: Neutral/ Rideable
- Partner Skill: Direhowl Rider: Move slightly faster than most mounts.
- Work Suitability: Gathering Lv.1
- Possible Drops: Leather/ Ruby/ Gold Coin
- Location: Direhowl is found in the west of Windswept Hills.
- Saddle Requirement: Level 9 Tech, material requirements: 10x Leather/ 10x Ingots/ x15 Fiber/ 10x Paldium Fragments to craft the saddle.
Chillet
Since we are on the topic of speed, we have Direhowl for the ground; now we will have Chillet, an excellent pal to cover the water. The speed of Chillet on water is unmatched by most pals; the numbers here are extraordinary for starter pals. It has a Swim Speed of 1350 and a Swim Dash Speed of 1890. The second fastest stats number in the entire pal library, falling behind Neptilius (A Level 60 pal). The only weaker aspect of this pal is its stamina, which sits at 100, a bit low, but the speed makes up for its weakness.

- Partner Skill: Wriggling Weasel: turns the player’s attack type to Dragon and increases the attack power by 5%.
- Work Suitability: Gathering Lv.1/ Cooling Lv.2

- Location: Chillet (Alpha) is found in the northeast section of Windswept Hills.
- Saddle Requirements: Tech Level 13, 10x Leather/ x20 Fiber/ 5x Cloth/ x20 Paldium Fragment.
Best Early Pals for Farming
The pals here are built to manage the overall pace of farming in the base. Both pals here are excellent in building an efficient running system for all the pals.
Clovee
The process of gathering speed will be very slow-paced early on in the game; adding Clovee will speed up the pace to manage your farming momentum. In short, adding Clovee to your team will result in higher yield, so you don’t have to take the alternative of building more farms for sustainability. While you might assume Clovee is just a buffer, it has one thing in its arsenal: the level 1 planting to help you in that part of the game too.

- Partner Skill: Happy Clover: Raise gathering work suitability of all pals by +1 (No Stacking)
- Work Suitability: Planting Lv.1/ Gathering Lv.1

Ribbuny
While Clovee was a perfect choice for gathering, when you enter the crafting territory, you will need to get a new specialized pal. Here, Ribbuny comes to the rescue. The pal also raises the attack power of Neutral pals, but the main highlight of Ribunny is its Handiwork bonus. Most of the starting pals also have Handiwork skills, so having Ribbuny will also provide an incredible boost to their speed.

- Partner Skill: Happy Go-Lucky Bunny: When in base, raises the level for all other base pals by +1 and also raises Handiwork work sustainability. (No Stacking) When you add Ribunny to the party, it raises the attack power of all neutral pals by 15%.
- Work Suitability: Handiwork Lv.1/ Transporting Lv. 1/ Gathering Lv.1
- Possible Drops: Leather/ Beautiful FLower/ Ribbuny RIbbon
- Location: Ribunny is found southwest of Windswept Hills.
Amione
If you are making a list of the most useful tasks you will carry out early on in the game, Watering comes out last before gathering and handiwork, but it is important to the farming section of the game. I recommend getting the first two buffers, then slowly moving onto this one right at the end. While Amione has less priority, it has an essential role in the base.

Other Beginner Friendly Early Pals
Now we will focus on the rest of the pals for early sessions in Palworld. I will mention their purpose next to their name to give you a clue about why you should have them for your base.
Nox| For Scanning or Navigations
Palworld 1.0 has also added new Pal Effigies; finding them will help you unlock new skills. Here you can add Nox to help you track down these effigies in the game to unlock the skill points far more quickly and easily. The best strategy is to fly around at night to find these special effigies, but when you are starting on the game, you will not have any flying pal on your team. Nox acts as a scanner to help you release a scanning wave from your location, and all points of interest will show up on the Map section at the top of the HUD. So it not only shows effigies; you will get the location of all interesting points in the game.

- Partner Skill: Kuudere: Helps with detecting nearby Pal Effigies
- Work Suitability: Gathering Lv.1
- Possible Drops: Leather/ Small Pal Soul
- Location: Nox is found in the middle of Windswept Hills.

Kelpsea| Aquatic Pal Fluids Farming
Most of the essential gear, potions, food, and building a hot spring requires you to have Aquatic Pal Fluids. It is one of the essential items needed for an early run in the game. Primarily, out of all the options, you will need Pal Fluids to manufacture Cement to create various structures; they can also be used to make saddles for water mounts, water grenades, and lastly, hot springs to keep the pal’s sanity in check.
Stat and Location Details:
- Type: Water
- Partner Skill: Aqua Spout: Raises attack power for Water pals by 15%.
- Work Suitability: Farming Lv.1/ Watering Lv. 1
- Possible Drops: Aquatic Pal Fluids/ Raw Kelpsea
- Location: Kelpsea is found in the southwest section and also in the middle of Windswept Hills.
Rushoar| Efficient Mining
If you are lacking any rideable pal in your group, adding Rushoar will fix the issue. But that’s not why we are adding this boar-looking pal to our base; we are doing that because of its partner skill. This allows us to destroy stones by a whopping 500% while mounted. So instead of taking a pickaxe to mine the ores, use Rushoar to break them quickly.
Stat and Location Details:
- Type: Ground/ Rideable
- Partner Skill: Hard Head: While you are riding Rushoar, you will raise the efficiency of destroying stones by 500%.
- Work Suitability: Mining Lv.1
- Possible Drops: Rushore Pork/ Leather/ Bone
- Location: Rushoar is found in the middle of Windswept Hills and also in the red area a bit north of the land.
- Saddle Required: You will need Leather x3 + Stone x10 + Palladium Fragment x5 to craft a single Rushoar Saddle. (This saddle can’t be purchased, nor does it drop from any enemy) [Technology Level 6]
Penking| Higher Levels to All Stats
This is the only pal you will have at the beginning with Lv.3 Transporting and Mining. Now you are thinking we already have Rushoar for Mining, which is true; Rushoar is excellent for mining, but the mining level stays at only one, and you must be on the top of the pal to mine material. Here, Penking, we are getting better grade work skills; mining is at level 3, and so is transporting.
The rest of the skills sit at level 2, which is extremely good for the early run. Besides the work, the partner skill helps drop more items from Fire Pals. While it might look a bit irrelevant, later on most items need Flame Organ, a drop from Fire Pals
