The new Wuthering Waves 2.1 update has brought many new interesting items & quests to the game. Among them is the main quest “Old Man and the Whale”, which involves a series of missions centered on the sea and fishing on Riccioli Island. This guide will walk you through “Love In The Time Of Fishing”, the second quest in the series.
How To Unlock Love In The Time Of Fishing Quest
Complete the “Set Sail! Pro Angler!” quest successfully to Unlock Love In The Time of Fishing. With the new Wuthering Waves update, you can start the first quest automatically.
Love In The Time of Fishing Guide
Head to Port of Riccioli Dock to start the first part of the quest. You’ll have to complete requests and level up to complete Love In The Time of Fishing.
Raising Fame to Level 3+
There are two missions you have to do to get your level to 3 or higher. Completing these minor quests will also reward you with various helpful items. There are two quests in the first part:
- Flying Fish, Diving Dragon
- Cutting of The Gordian Knot
How To Complete Flying Fish, Diving Dragon
Go to the dock and start sailing to the first quest marker which will be indicated by a purple circle with a fish in the center. You need to get ahold of an Airsailer first. Start fishing by interacting with the icon and you will catch an Airsailer along with other creatures like the Octopus Clam or the Yarn Eel.
Make sure you are using the given space in the cargo properly. Not arranging them efficiently can be a hurdle when completing the next part of this quest. If you catch multiple fishes of the same kind, try to keep the ones that cost more.
After getting the Airsailer, go to the next location with the same purple circle icon. Interact with it to start fishing once again. You will get one or multiple Leafy Seadragons. Fill the cargo with the rest of the catches. If you have trouble fitting them, you can rotate the items as needed.
Go back to the dock and deliver the cargo with the creatures. You will be rewarded with:
- 100x Fame
- 10x Old Compass
- 400x Riccioli Fishery Coins
- 10x Palm Tree Logs
- 10x Metal Debris
These items will help you enhance your fishing abilities.
How To Complete Cutting Of The Gordian Knot
Once you deliver the first cargo, start the next part of the quest: Catching a Bell-less Crab and a Yarn Eel.
Head over to the purple icon and start fishing. Be sure to catch the drifting treasures and other items in the sea. The first fishing session can yield multiple Bell-less crabs. Go to the second spot next, which is towards the right side of the first one. Here, you can get ahold of some Yarn Eels along with Octopus clams. Remove the unwanted creatures and head back to the dock to get your rewards. They include:
- 150x Fame
- 10x Old Compass
- 500x Riccioli Fishery COins
- 30x Palm Tree Logs
After delivering the cargo, leave the dock and find Ahab. Go up through the slope on the left side of the dock and you’ll see him standing near the left edge. The next task is to locate the shipwright, Queequeg. Cross the bridge near the Port of Riccioli and he’ll be standing at the left end of it. Queequeg will ask for 50 Palm Logs and 500 Riccioli Fishery Coins.
You might already have those items after completing the previous quests. Deliver it to Queequeg and you’ll see a cutscene where the large ship is being built. Go back to the dock as you’ll have to now travel to Helm Village.
Select the large anchor icon with “Set Sail!” at the corner of the screen to start Sailing.
After crossing the sea and taking items scattered throughout it, get off at Helm Village’s dock and look for Starbuck. He will be at the right edge of the topmost wooden platform. You’ll get one Sweet Puff after talking to him. Sweet Puffs can burst and break any large rocks in your way.
Now go back to the dock and look for the Abandoned Gondola, which is Starbuck’s ship. You have to enhance your resonator’s fishing ability to proceed with the next quest. After getting all the required items, set sail and go to the icon’s location. The Gondola will be blocked by large boulders. Use the Sweet Puff to get rid of the rocks and free the Gondola.
Raising Fame to Level 6+
The second part of Love In The Time of Fishing quest will have another set of requests that need to be completed for leveling up. This includes:
- Cute Ocean Dwellers
- Take A Giant Gulp
- Prickly Pugilist
How To Complete Cute Ocean Dwellers
To complete Cute Ocean Dwellers, you’ll have to catch one Dumbo Octopus and Til the Fin-ish. Go to the first location with a purple fish icon. Start fishing and you might end up with a Dumbo Octopus, Octopus Clam, and Airsailer. The second spot is a bit farther away, but it will reward you with 2 Til the Fin-ish and one Dumbo Octopus. Pack your cargo with the creatures you need.
Go back to the Dock and deliver all the items. You will be rewarded with:
- 450x Fame
- 10x Old Compass
- 600x Riccioli Fishery Coins
- 10x Palm Tree Logs
- 10x Coast Flax
How To Complete Take A Giant Gulp
To complete this minor quest, you’ll have to catch the Giant Gulper. Follow the same purple icon and start fishing to collect 2x Giant Gulpers and fit them into your cargo. Deliver it at the dock to complete this quest. You will be rewarded with:
- 500x Fame
- 10x Old Compass
- 850x Riccioli Fishery Coins
- 10x Palm Tree Logs
- 10x Metal Debris
How To Complete Prickly Pugilist
For this minor quest, you will have to catch one Prickle Crab and one Dumbo Octopus. Go to the Purple fish icons and start fishing to collect them. Set the cargo and deliver to get these rewards:
- 500x Fame
- 10x Old Compass
- 500x Riccioli Fishery Coins
- 15x Coast Flax
- 15x Palm Tree Logs
Completing these quests will take you to Level 6 of Fame. You can now continue the rest of the Love in The Time of Fishing Quest.
Gulp of Blob
Here you’ll have to catch 2 Giant Gulpers and 2 Sad Blobs for Starbuck. If you have enough materials, you can upgrade your resonator and cargo to carry more creatures. Also, buy some of those Sweet Puff fishes to help you get rid of giant boulders in the sea.
To complete Gulp of Blob, go to the purple icons to catch the required creatures. After unlocking the special Nautical Light ability during this minor quest, you can go to the orange icon to start fishing at the high-threat level spot. You’ll catch a fish that looks similar to Starbuck’s.
Meeting Starbuck at Helm Village
Go back to Helm Village and talk to Starbuck. Giving him the items will reward you with the Helm Village Lighthouse Key. You have to use this key to gain access to lighthouses and light them up as Ahab instructed. Travel up toward the lighthouse and use the key at the little orange structure on the right of the lighthouse. After lighting it up, you will be rewarded with one Pequod Blueprint: Basic. This completes the Love In The Time of Fishing Quest.
