Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 is expected to end on June 9, 2023. Consequently, depending on how Epic Games schedules the downtime, we can expect to drop onto the Season 3 map sometime on June 9 or June 10.
Environment
Season 3 will have a Jungle Biome. And Fortnite also added "Volcanic Rocks", which could be related to the geysers near Mega City 🔥

ShiinaBR and HYPEX revealed on Twitter that Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 will have a jungle biome with a tropical theme. It is unclear where this area will be located. Since Mega City and its surrounding POIs arrived in the game just this season, it may be fair to assume that Epic would let us enjoy this biome a bit longer. The medieval biome, on the other hand, was added in Season 1, so players would not mind some modifications there.
According to @Wensoing & @Loolo_WRLD, there are some files that indicate a Chapter 4 Desert Biome, including:
– Palm Trees
– Joshua Trees
– CactiIt is unknown if this is for Season 3, future Season or UEFN
2 Biomes would be awesome, but it sounds a bit far fetched | #Fortnite pic.twitter.com/BxysuvoT0v

To make things more interesting, it seems that Epic Games recently added files for palm trees, Joshua trees, and cacti to the game. Some are wondering whether Epic will add a separate desert biome in the upcoming season. While there is a chance we may see two new biomes in Season 3, it is more likely that these fauna will be scattered around the island or confined to a small desert landmark.
Fortnite added new Volcano Ambient sounds (Thunder, Rumble & Earth Move). And they also added back Earthquakes that will probably appear at the end of this season.
Remember that next season is confirmed to have a Jungle/Tropical Biome, so we might see a Volcano too. pic.twitter.com/iLYihtK7wJ

An active volcano will probably be added to the island as well, validating the rumors about a Mega City-volcanic eruption storyline. The volcanic rocks and the geysers near Mega City could make for some interesting developments.
Mud feature
In 24.30, new sound effects for being on Mud were added
These include sound effects for walking on mud in first person and third person.
We should see these sound effects be used in next season's jungle biome or in the "muddy" areas on the map

Season 3 is expected to have muddy areas that will induce a slow effect. Both players and vehicles will have a difficult time traversing the mud, which will presumably be a part of the jungle biome. We may witness the return of off-road tires or even the introduction of a new heavy-duty vehicle.

Much to the excitement of the Fortnite community, the official social media channels of the game teased a ranked mode on May 12, 2023. Many assumed that it would be limited to the racing mode that Epic Games is working on, but Fortnite Competitive posting the same tweet fueled discussion on whether Battle Royale will also get a proper ranked mode finally. Arena has been unsatisfactory for some time now.
