Besides interplanetary space travel, Starfield features a staggering number of planets and space stations where you need to land on for quests, exploration, and other things. For traversing those vast swathes of land, you have access to the Starfield Boostpack which also helps you deal with low gravity. Although these Boostpacks are extremely handy, you’ll not get one at the start of the game.
Keeping that in mind, this guide will delve into different ways to get the jetpack alongside ways to use it. This will not only help you reach tricky places with great ease but also outplay your enemies in combat.
How to get the Starfield Boostpack
Although multiple Starfield Boostpacks are available in the game, you’ll get your first free one only after completing the prologue mission. Once you complete the ‘One Small Step’ primary story mission and reach the Constellation’s Lodge in New Atlantis, you’ll get the Constellation Pack as a completion reward. This jetpack has a basic boost pack functionality. Additionally, you can also come across different types of jetpacks just by progressing the game and looting space pirates on your way.

How to use the Starfield Boostpack
The jetpack is one of the essential techs to traverse around the vast expanses of the planets in the game’s universe. There are four different kinds of Starfield Boostpacks:
- Basic Boost Pack:Â Default boost pack, Has no special features.
- Skip-Velocity Boost Pack: Similar to the Default Boost Pack but with a much faster boost regeneration speed.
- Power Boost Pack:Â Longest boost in the air but drains quickly.
- Balanced Boost Pack: Further boost in the air than Basic Boost Pack.
To use these packs, you need to take the Boost Pack Training skill, which you can unlock by using one Skill Point. It is recommended to unlock Boost Pack Training skills early in the game to utilize its perks from the start. For every rank, you will also unlock a particular bonus, which includes:
- Rank 1:Â You can now utilize boost packs.
- Rank 2:Â Using a boost pack expends less fuel.
- Rank 3:Â Boost pack fuel regenerates more quickly.
- Rank 4:Â Doubles previous bonuses.
After you unlock each rank using your skill point, you must complete a specific challenge to opt for the next rank. There are three rank challenges available, including:
-
-
- Rank 1 Challenge: Boost jump 10 times while in combat.
- Rank 2 Challenge: Boost jump 25 times while in combat.
- Rank 3 Challenge: Boost jump 50 times while in combat.
-
Once you unlock the ranks, you can start using your Jetpack by pressing the jump button twice. Remember to use this to float around mid-air while on low-gravity planets, as it’ll allow you to cover a lot more area.Â
